btw, Brad Brownell at Wright St would be a GREAT coach. In 07 he led WSU to the NCAA tourney for the first time since 1993 (does that year sound familiar?) and last year when they were picked to finish near the bottom of the Horizon League they finished 2nd with 21 wins. This year they are 17-11. Prior to WSU he spent four years at UNC Wilmington where he went 83-40 with 2 NCAA tourney appearances. He is only 40

I say we raid Florida Atlantic again, and hire Mike Jarvis. The guy can seriously coach, he led GW to the NCAA's, so he knows how to recruit for a non-BCS school. He's serving his penance for his problems at St. Johns. Now there's a good bench coach.

There's a reason why he wasn't considered for any head coaching positions this year in the NBA. He can get the most out of players for a short period, but players will get burnt out. He may end up as a college coach, but I don't believe he'll be successful.

Not that it matters because Avery's not coming here, but one of the good things about an Avery/Parcells/Knight type is that this is college... players are only here for 4 years. When players get burned out, they go get a job.

Yea, but you can't hire Jarvis if you're SMU, just can't do it. Another guy like that, that's won his league and danced two years running, after serving his penance, is Todd Bozeman. Any school w/a history w/the NCAA can't touch those guys. Bozeman would be a really interesting hire, though.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

I still think Bob Hoffman would do a good job at SMU.
