correct. Lets not forget Rodney McGruder, Wally Judge and Jamar Samuels off this years team too.

You really think that's the ONLY reason he's been successful? Seeing as the AAU connection is getting farther away in the rearview mirror, I guess time will truly tell. There is a lot more to that team's success than the players you mentioned, anyway. Pullen, Spradling, Kelly, etc.

But, more to the point: I'm trying to make the point that coaches screaming at players doesn't seem very effective. You seem to argue both sides of the fence.

I think berating players courtside, in and of itself, is very rarely effective. I think that with certain coaches, it's less ridiculous (the notable ones that have come up are Martin and Coach K).

Lastly, I don't think the courtside screaming is all that big of a deal. In Doh's case, the only reason I care at all is because it seems a good indicator of how he treats the kids overall. So, because his overall treatment of players seem to be better characterized by belittlement/berating/attacking than one of building better men--Doh's on-court theatrics are a little more unsettling than with some other coaches.

Speaking from experience, after a while, you just tune it out. One time my coach stomped his foot so [deleted] the court after another one of my to's, that he broke the heel off his shoe. I laughed all the way to the bench after he yanked my [deleted] out of the game, screaming @ me the whole way. I don't know what made him more mad, me or breaking his shoe. After about 5 minutes, I was back in the game & everything was back to norm.

Seriously, its no big deal to most players. 99% of the players have very thick skin & see that type of behavior from the coach everyday. Doesn't faze em.

The only problem I see with Doh yelling @ his players is the lack of a crowd. At most college games,
the fan noise drowns out the coach. Because we only have a handful of fans, everything Doh sz is heard echoing throughout Moody.

Also, I'm adding another local to my transfer watch. Nick Russell from KState
Nick now joins TJ Taylor, Nolan Dennis, & Roger Franklin on my watch list as possibly being SMU bound.

I think they may sustain for a minute, but the reason anyone started to care for KSU is Beasley. Beasley was done to Charlotte, exit Dalonte, Beasley goes with. Dalonte gets 450k to be a recruiting assistant, who leans on his Adidas ties. The well is drying up w/Assault, not b/c of Dalonte, but b/c of Beasley going behind Curtis' back to hire an agent, and not an Assault agent. Also, Assault has been down the last several years, so the high major pool has been limited. Had they had several high majors, one or two would have gone to KSU. Of course other players are big time contributors, but the resurgence was on the Hill/beasley, and like you said, it's grinding to a halt. So we'll see.

Also, I agree that in the past Doh has been as brutal off the court as on. I hear conflicting reports if that's changed. You can't be a [deleted] all the time in this culture

Man, Russell went from starting at K-state to riding pine.

I met him when he came to SMU two falls ago, and he ended up choosing K-state over SMU. Nice kid.

Man, I always learn from your posts PonyDoh. I've also heard (friend of a friend, so totally FWIW) that he's changed his off-the-court approach the past couple years. Last year, in interviews, he was almost too cuddly in talking about the players.

I think these next couple games will be very telling for the 'Stangs. The Memphis and SoMiss games were really encouraging. In fact, I thought the UAB game was encouraging as well. I'm looking forward to see if Losh helps improve things even more. If we end this season even mediocre, I am genuinely excited for next season... for the first time in a long time.
