Travis Bickle was the name of Robert De Niro's character in the movie Taxi Driver. Harry Callahan was Dirty Harry. Trend?

Can't say I ever watched the T.V. show Taxi but what ever you want to think. Know the name obviously Robert De Niro as the actor in The Deer Hunter.

.Dude......your posting name is from 'Taxi ' ...the classic 1976 movie with Robert De Niro,....

Michael Vronsky actually is Robert De Niro's name from The Deer Hunter FYI.

Travis does not like The University of North Texas. BTW, speaking of local players, I saw Tony Mitchell from UNT playing WKU last night and dude is good. How did Doherty not get him? Admissions issues? From an area high school I've never heard of (Pinkston).

"Ranked as the nation’s No. 12 recruit as a senior ... Dallas Morning News 2010 Player of the Year ... Averaged 20.5 points, 13.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 4.1 blocks per game as a senior"

Rice has an RPI of around 170 compared with SMU at 212 (and UH at 231).

Indeed, 7000 million in fact.

Are you an SMU grad or just a fan? It's funny that you came "out of nowhere" and started throwing down. As for me, ha ha, I joined PF a year and a half before my wife lucked out with an offer to teach at SMU. Now we're here for good (tenure). You'll pass me in posts by the end of hoops season.

LOL. She doesn't read this board. I was real excited about the offer and she had a competing research offer in Houston. More lucky for me.

It's cool that you're a big SMU fan and not a grad. I wonder why you think Doherty is the guy that can take SMU to the Dance. Clearly it won't be this year and probably not next year and then the Big East is upon us. I liked the hire when it happened -- for its notoriety anyway -- but questioned how great he really is due to the sharp decline after year one at UNC.

At SMU, he's made some progress but when you go to one post-season in five years and it's the CIT (where you buy in), that's pretty bad. SMU has played overall .500 ball the last two years and finished in seventh in the conference. Currently, SMU is at #220 or so in RPI. This was supposed to be a turnaround year but maybe it just takes some time for the team to gel. Coaches usually go after the crowds give up.

and for the record, because people are still confused, YOU CANNOT BUY INTO THE CIT. you can pay for the right to host home games and the team with best record has priority. The fee you pay covers travel for away team. That's the only fee associated with that topic.

Now sorry to derail. Let's return to whatever this thread is trying to accomplish.

Not being a wise guy but he failed "big-time" at Michigan.

He's doing pretty well at his current school.

Dude, my name is Travis Bickle. There are 700 million people on this planet. Michael Jordan is the volleyball coach at New Mexico State. Jim and Tammy Bakker were neighbors of mine. Larry Bird lived down the street. So I have a name that Robert De Niro played in some movie 30 years ago. Dude what is wrong with that? Don't you think someone else or many people share the same name as yours?
But you made the definitive statement posting that Travis is "obviously Robert De Niro as the actor in The Deer Hunter.
"...which is wrong, and the name is made famous to millions by the character in Taxi, not by some obscure player. You have the real tendency to not want to let the facts get in the way of your arguments/rants. And we all could care less what, and who you post as, but it's much better to have your facts straight. And guess what?...... no one has my same exact name in real life in the whole world...that we have ever found. FWIW.

we all hope this team continues to improve as the season wears on. Let's just leave it at that because we all have to admit the guys laid an egg against Rice and that game was a huge step backwards. Hopefully the guys have enough pride to show up tonight and get another good road win. At least there should be some fans in attendance. Even in down years, UTEP draws several thousand on Saturday nights.
