John Brady? What, so we can have two former LSU coaches in the Metroplex?
Beats the heck out of having one former LSU coach and no coach.
I don't know if the Metroplex is big enough for that much Tiger What do you know about John Pelphrey? Seems like he got a raw deal at Arkansas

ponyinNC wrote:This is a real black eye on Orsini's tenure as AD. If he wants that Notre Dame job someday, he better pull a rabbit out of a hat with this hire. I had no idea that it was this bad, and that other coaches are calling us out on it.
I thought this was only embarrasing to us internally...but seems our perception in the bball community is exactly like PonyDoh has described to us.
And there must be some other obstacles (admin, curriculum, support, etc) that gives hesitation to those looking at the job. My guess is nobody wants to take us into the Big East in the current state we are in and have their W-L record completely screwed, getting killed by the Uconn's and Georgetown's of the world. Not sure whether to blame Orsini completely or how much should fall on the shoulders of RGT. If the Collins story is true, then the blame should be split between the two.
I'd like to hear from the CofC members on this one personally. You guys are the ones that have access to those two and have influence. I sure hope you are conveying the sentiment of the fans.
I woke up this morning thinking, since it was so quiet, perhaps we got RickMa. What a joke
AMEN- this has turned into a total disaster. Can anybody explain what happened on the Chris Collins deal? I had heard it was all but done and then crash. And the ad and MC wonder why they don't get more grass-roots fan support.

Pelphrey was labeled as "too nice". Many thought both he and Stan Heath were not given enough time to develope what they needed to do. But Arkansas would have gotten rid of anyone after any length of time if they thought they could get Mike Anderson and that was the case.

As I posted earlier in the week from a former player of Rick and now a student college basketball coach elsewhere....it wouldn't take much sleuthing to find out he wasn't going anywhere....
"Oh yea, I just saw that today. I would be SHOCKED if he actually does leave because I've heard that this upcoming season will be his last year due to his age and reaching 500+ wins for his career. I couldn't see him trying to build another program, especially one playing in the big east, but you never know! I would try like HELL to get on staff at SMU if that were to happen. He's pretty tough to work for, but he is a hell of a coach and that would definitely help my career too. So I guess we'll see!"

It is finally becoming obvious that the administration is only giving lip service to big time college athletics and is demonstrating to the AD who is in charge. You could double the money, fire the search firm, and coaches still won't come to a place where the administration is unwilling to provide a way to keep student athletes eligible.
That is complete [deleted]. Why don't you try for once in your life back up your global attack on the administration and detail exactly what the hell you mean. Until you do-until anyone in the SMU community can do more than spout generalities which are almost always utter [deleted] then nobody should take you seriously. Come stud tell us exactly what SMU policies are unfair in comparison to other comparable universities

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaab-the ... 42624.htmlWhoever becomes SMU's next coach will be at an immediate disadvantage because of the Mustangs' lack of self-awareness in this search. All SMU is doing by going after pike dreams like Williams or Amaker is raising the hopes of their fans to unrealistic heights and making the eventual hire an automatic letdown. Yes, SMU is joining the Big East and apparently will make a newfound commitment to basketball by throwing money at its next coach. Still this is a program that hasn't been to the NCAA tournament since 1993, didn't finish above .500 in Conference USA in any of Doherty's six seasons and loses by far its best player off a 19-loss team.

This gets funnier each passing day.
Sutton wont take the job.
Trey was using the powers of Gamehendge to allow the show to continue, to give the band the strength it needed to help break through this barrier

KTP, I know you would have a field day ROTFL if SMU hired someone that Tulsa said no to hiring, like Sutton.

Cason wouldn't be a bad hire, given how this search has gone.

Sutton would be a GREAT hire for Tulsa or SMU.
To be honest I was pissed when they didnt offer him.
Im happy with Manning but Sutton can flat out coach. I know that he really likes living in Tulsa and has pretty much all of his extended family there. I dont know what happens if SMU pursues.
I want whats best for SMU. SMU and Tulsa are conference rivals for one more year. I want a good program @ Moody period. Ive seen 10 years of futility at Moody.
Cason would be a great hire. Great Texas recruiter.
SMU needs to stop trying to make a splash and hire someone that wants to move up career wise not take a huge rebuilding project.
