Also - there are a lot of coaches that are makign under 1 mil that would be worth trying to steal away from another program:

Mike Davis at UAB? Mark Few at Gonzaga?

Not a bad idea. I heard his name mentioned once at the very beginning of all of this, and not once since. I would hope Orsini has called him to at least explore his level of interest, because we certainly should be interested in him.

At this point, I question the selection of the search firm. My experience is that a properly connected firm can reach out to most every high quality candidate discretely and get an immediate answer if there is any interest and the extent of that interest. This screening should all be done without any public revelations impacting the existing situation of a coach and not discrediting SMU. At this point my main criticism would be hiring the wrong search firm and their failure to protect their clients ( SMU, Orsini) and identify proper candidates.

Rob Jeter...Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Young, energetic, been interviewed by several bigger programs..Nebraska, for sure this year.

I have no connection whatsoever, but Horizon League basketball is solid. Ask Butler.

Just my .02.
