I think we are talking about true freshman not transfers. If we are taking about transfers you would have to include Garrett Gilbert. But as far s true freshmen are concerned I think Gaines has that accolade IMO.

Soccer is probably more popular. And I think cricket is number 1 worldwide.

Its actually soccer then hoops, cause this isn't about pure viewership as much revenue generated including retail.

Cricket is not that popular outside of former English colonial areas such as Australia, New Zealand, India, South Africa, and the UK itself. Soccer is far more popular on a worldwide basis, and basketball probably is as well.

Cricket is #2 by number of fans according to my extensive web search. Soccer es numero uno.

I guess this is a matter of how you gauge popular. If fans/viewership doesn't translate to dollars etc. For example, football drives TV contracts in America, but not endorsement dollars or retail, at least not compared to basketball. Its the most popular sport in terms of viewership numbers etc

Cricket is a great game, 5 days of play and still a chance there is no winner and yet it is one of the most popular sports in the world....

20/20 and one-day are great (though I prefer the one day), but I was just saying what great game cricket is that it can hold the attention for so long. I'm Irish, and when we beat Pakistan in the world cup it was one of the greatest national achievements.
