I think we are talking about true freshman not transfers. If we are taking about transfers you would have to include Garrett Gilbert. But as far s true freshmen are concerned I think Gaines has that accolade IMO.

I guess this is a matter of how you gauge popular. If fans/viewership doesn't translate to dollars etc. For example, football drives TV contracts in America, but not endorsement dollars or retail, at least not compared to basketball. Its the most popular sport in terms of viewership numbers etc

20/20 and one-day are great (though I prefer the one day), but I was just saying what great game cricket is that it can hold the attention for so long. I'm Irish, and when we beat Pakistan in the world cup it was one of the greatest national achievements.
