There are no high school hoops pipelines, people. On occasion you'll see AAU pipelines, but that's generally b/c that staff added a AAU coach. See UCLA right now, Indiana, Villanova, Auburn etc

Thanks. It is so refreshing to be competing again in hoops.

IF you locked 20 guys who've seen both Sterling and Frazier in a room, they'd probably be pretty close to split over who they prefer. Great player, lets just not put unreasonable expectations on him

I think we get him as well. While I realize that the Kimball coaches really won't impact a kids decision and that AAU and sponsorships play a much bigger part in a kids decision, I still think it would be cool to have a long list of players come from Kimball to SMU to the NBA. If we land enough of them, eventually it might play a role in the kids decision even without the kid listening to his HS coach.

To add some clarity to my earlier comments - i agree he is not the kind of player that single handidly turns around a program - the reason i think he would be great to add to our already great list of recruits is that i think he adds that "critical mass piece" that says - Hey , SMU is going to win at the highest level - and we are going to smother you with unbelievable depth.

Also agree there is no pipeline, really. But i do think at places like Kimball they notice where their guys go and it helps get you on the short list if they come back into the community with postiive things to say. so i would call that an informal pipeline.

whats nice about this staff is you dont feel like you would even need to point out anything to them about recruiting - they are waaaay ahead of any of us - and that has not been the feeling we have had in.....ever.

I've watched Frazier & he's really good. However, some of the expectations are a little high IMO.
Yes, he would help the program. Don't see him being a program changer, but an upgrade for sure.
Compared to another local, I don't think he would have the impact someone like a Smart is having @ OK State his freshman year.

he is the most highly ranked of our target recruits, no?

i think if he comes it pushes us over the legit line with a bunch of people. i stand by that assessment.

Well, Moreira is the #1 JUCO and a big, so he's right there w/Frazier.. Who does getting Frazier put us over the line with? I'm not hating, as hes a great player, just don't think people should expect a messiah. Not sure he'd even be a frosh starter

Buzz kill. Frazier will start for SMU, average 30 ppg, land us in the Final Four, double the endowment, bring World peace, AND find a cure for cancer. Yeah, I just swatted your weak [deleted]!

Come on now! I am hoping for 50 ppg, Back to back National Championships, #1 overall pick, 9 figure endorsement deal so he can singlehandedly endow the basketball Head Coach's salary. Anything less and it will be a huge let down.

Sorry, I just didn't want to exaggerate!

Well, I limited my expectations to basketball. You mentioned curing cancer and world peace! LeBron James meet Keith Frazier.
