Here is the floor design shown in the design renderings for what it is worth. 8)

Well, it was smart of them to just put three Mustangs on the floor, given that marking in conference logos or something would have been embarrassing in retrospect.

I hope they do something very eye-catching and tied to Dallas and Texas.

Very much agree on some overt Dallas references. Let's put a bigass Dallas skyline silouette at midcourt in some form

Dallas skyline would be pretty cool, as would a silhouette of the state of Texas; although I think A&M does something similar. I guess if we're going to brand ourselves as "Dallas' team" the Dallas skyline makes more sense- it's just not a really recognizable skyline like NYC, Chicago, DC, etc.

Lots of schools fo the Texas thing, I think it I played out. The Dallas skyline with reunion tower is probably more recognizable than you realize, but ultimately it only needs to be recognized by Dallasites. The more I think about it the more I like it

Use Dallas skyline as backdrop to large red Mustang. 8)

The problem with the skyline is all the neon is what makes it recognizable and I do not think you want bright colors on the court. How do you make the Omni recognizable without neon?

The Omni is not all Dallas has to show.

Or here is a more compact one.

I like the first one PK posted. Put that on top of the red Mustang. That would look great.

Now if the school rips this off, I at least expect some comped tickets or something.

Cool idea, Stealth, but I don't see that happening. The huge Mustang won't happen, because the '90s are over, and I really like the skyline there, but can't see SMU getting that edgy with it. I predict a very plain, classic look with simple writing. Maybe with "Dallas, Texas" or "Moody Coliseum", but not a lot of color on the floor.

With our lack of real basketball tradition it wouldn't be the end of the world to have an attention grabbing court design. I don't mean anything trashy or over the top like long beach state, but something that will grab a recruit's eye. College football teams use Nike combat uniforms as a marketing tool, smu should take advantage of court designs as a way to make ourselves gain even more attention.
