From my understanding according to the ESPN contract, yes. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: ESPN: Count 'Em Down: Teams poised for a leapAnd that starts this year for bball, next for football?
Re: ESPN: Count 'Em Down: Teams poised for a leap
That is my understanding.
Re: ESPN: Count 'Em Down: Teams poised for a leapI believe we are on the old Big East ESPN contract (which is new to SMU) this year and next year we will be on the new AAC ESPN contract.

Re: ESPN: Count 'Em Down: Teams poised for a leapI'm much more excited for basketball season, but it's just a shame we'll have to play in Garland for our first few "home" games. I know this is probably a pipe dream but if we can get through our non-conference schedule and open Moody against a team like UConn or Louisville on National TV that would be a huge step for this program.
Re: ESPN: Count 'Em Down: Teams poised for a leapWe need to open against a team like UCF or Rutgers first to get better chance at a 1st conference game win. Then play UConn or Louisville after the 1st conference win. It would not do SMU good to lose to UConn or Louisville at home starting out a murders row conference schedule.

Re: ESPN: Count 'Em Down: Teams poised for a leapYou have a huge adrenaline factor in the game that opens Moody. I say play the best team possible and on national TV.

Yes, remember the spanking we gave Kansas opening Ford. An atheist is a guy who watches a Notre Dame-SMU football game and
doesn't care who wins. -- Dwight D. Eisenhower
Re: ESPN: Count 'Em Down: Teams poised for a leap
A possible loss would not do the team well. Football team lost to Rice the first year June was here and never recovered. Opening the new Moody to a loss is not a way to start a tradition. It would be an emotional move to start with UConn or Louisville but not an intelligent one imo. We will have adrenaline factor and national TV audience regardless of if it is the first game or the fifth game of conference play because of the ESPN agreement. #HammerDown

This Go Ponies!!
Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
Re: ESPN: Count 'Em Down: Teams poised for a leapWell... Most likely it'll be Louisville or Uconn.
Re: ESPN: Count 'Em Down: Teams poised for a leapall the talk about "if the coaches can get these guys to gel early" actually gives me a lot of confidence. I fully expect this coaching staff to get the most out of this roster and have the guys playing together. Even though the W-L record didn't show it, I was impressed by how much better the guys looked last year in just a short time working with this staff.
I fully expect this year's team to be playing in the post season. Just not ready to make any bold predictions as to which tourney, but it will be beyond our conference tourney for a change
Re: ESPN: Count 'Em Down: Teams poised for a leap
It would be nice to finally win a conference tournament game...... Peruna is my mascot!
