Because for the better part of the past 25 years we have had teams that didn't deserve a packed house. Football especially, but also basketball. Now we have a team worth filling an arena for, and we all desperately want it filled. Keep in mind that Mustang fans are damaged goods

Still way too many empty red seats last night, sections on the end were worse.
I believe this photo was taken a few minutes before the second half started. I can see myself but not my wife. She was a little behind me in getting to our seats. The seats on the other side of me are empty at this time but they were filled during the game. People just wandered back to their seats before the half started. Section 103 where I sit was 99% filled.
Not pointing at you because you said that you were in your seat by start of the second half. Believe me, you were in the minority. I sit in the red seats and actually remember thinking wow, the second half has started and over half of the red seats are empty. Game was going on and I had trouble viewing because people were either walking in front of me, stopping in the isle to talk or what ever. I know we do not live in a perfect world. I just wish people would focus on what is important. Typical SMU fans, they actually believe that their idle chit chat with their friends up in the club or in the concourse is actually more important than what is going on on the court. I don't think it will change, but I will gripe about it every so often.

Most of the coliseum was half empty for the first 2 minutes of the 2nd half. Not just the red seats. I sit on the floor and my son and I stayed during halftime to get a pic with President Bush and remember looking up at the beginning of the 2nd half thinking people need to get there butts back in there seats. Any sold out venue in Dallas is the same way, Mavs and Cowboys always that way right after the half.

Red seaters at the game go to the Miller Center at half where there is food, beer, and comfortable surroundings. Tough to go in there, enjoy, and get back to your seat in 20 minutes. That is not an excuse because I had the opportunity to do that once and was back by the start of the 2nd half, but there will always be stranglers, and probably some that just stay in there enjoying the perks and watching the big screens. They pay for that right so it is difficult to criticize them.

Its a halftime issue - concessions, restrooms etc. (even in the Champions club). Two rows in front and one to the left of me in the red seats were empty until a few minutes into second half.
Bathroom lines are not horrible and move relatively quick with a full house. The beer lines are crazy long and congesting the area because they have to open a beer every time. Taps/Kegs would help and I'm not sure why they haven't moved to that at this point.

The ushers need to sort that out cause that's BS. People should not be walking up and down aisles when the ball is live. They'll figure that out I'm sure by next year, pretty common protocol with high dollar seats.

"They" need to get their priorities straight. It is not that difficult to criticize them. Maybe show a little support for the Special Olympics ballers? How common. You notice George stayed.

They can at least add additional beer carts across from concessions. The notched decorated areas are less crowded than where the current stands are and could double our beer capacity

If you don't like it, "pony up" for a red seat and sit in it for 2 straight hours

Exactly, everyone that is b*tching and moaning is more than capable of sending a nice check to SMU and correcting the problem. Easy to complain when you aren't writing a check for 5K or whatever it is. I would suggest that anyone with an issue does as East Coast said and Pony Up for the seats, then make sure you're at every game regardless of a family death or any other circumstance. Ridiculous. People pay good money for those seats, they have the right to use them or let them go unused and if you don't want to see them unused, then get on the waiting list and drop some Gs.

I'm all for creative ways to redistribute seats that aren't being used, but attacking people who generously support our athletic dept is a poor approach IMO
