The one that was an SMU alumnus is the one that has not. My wife (who is heavily involved in local politics) called him out yesterday as she entered the polls for early voting. His response: "Who cares? No one follows SMU basketball."
She said she laughed in his face and walked away.
Way to endear yourself to the masses. Granted she did have a T-Shirt on for the opponent's campaign (which she manages).
There are two SMU alums in the race for the house seat. Chart Westcott went to SMU law school (was a classmate of mine) and I think Morgan Meyer went to SMU undergrad. Who didn't know I have a guess as to which one but I understand that might be my political bias.
you're right. I did not know that Morgan went to SMU undergrad.

The current crop of kids will have great memories of this season. I was a student during the early Dave Bliss era, but even still I have fond memories of the years with Sonny Allen, Billy Allen, Dave Piehler, Johnny James, and Brad Branson. Those teams were always fun to watch and could knock off a big opponent like Kansas every now and then.

I wear Mustang shirts almost every day, and this basketball season I have
had many great comments about Larry and the team everywhere I go.

Morgan Fairchild also attended SMU although most on this board are too young to appreciate that

Didn't Morgan play some pickup ball at Dedman, decent three pointer, right? I think that's him

Yep. Especially since fans from the '80's always knew this school's great potential. I got an email from a Rice alumni congratulating me and saying he wanted for us to see a game together.

I wear SMU stuff about half the time, I work out in the field. I used to rarely get comments, now it's multiple people a day sometimes stopping to talk to me about SMU. IT'S GREAT!

I think I'm part of the "lost generation" I guess. I graduated in 1993 and I chose SMU over Tulane (I applied to SMU because of the Cowboys and the Pony Express . . . that was the appeal of SMU for me initially . . . of course, once I learned more and saw the campus and coeds I was hooked). Sports while I was there was tough - although I had the one tourney team (Gerald Lewis, Mason, etc) and loved me some Ramon Flanagan and my boy Brian Berry.
Nothing compares to this. I'm very jealous of current students, but I'm happy they get to experience it and they have stepped up in a HUGE way.

2ndandlong, your wife manages Court's campaign and Chart made the comment about SMU hoops? Morgan had a party at his house the night of the Montana State football game but believe he is a big fan of the U. Court seems solid too and Chart is outspending them all in a big way. Will be an interesting finish.
A few alums I've met say they need to get to a game. The games being sold out is a good excuse to not actually go because I doubt they've been at a game in quite a while. Those that are going are very excited.

Ok total side track. I'm intrigued by this. Morgan is a season ticket holder to football and has a BLVD spot with some buddies. I know Chart had a tent at a number of games. I don't know Court well - did he go to SMU? Full disclosure, I endorsed Chart, but if it was him, i would be very surprised. As much attention as he spent on Smu football game days I can't imagine him dissing smu basketball. I think all three are good candidates. None the less we should have an SMU guy in that seat. Dan was and was on the Blvd a number of times. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My car mechanic today saw me with an SMU sweater and made mention of how he's been keeping tabs on the basketball program since Larry got here and how he's been wanting to go to Moody again. He said he said that he's a big Dallas guy and loves supporting SMU when they're good.
We'll there you go, we can be a sleeping giant and there's seems to be support everywhere here for a winner.

I got thanked in Louisville yesterday when I was down there. They really appreciated us knocking off UConn, and several of the folks I talked to are really nervous about the game Wednesday. My Cinci friends are angry with me because they are travelling to UConn today and are afraid that they are going into a hornets next with us being UConn last week.

When my wife went to early vote yesterday, attired in an SMU logoed item, 2 candidates rushed from afar to say hello and extend greetings to a fellow Mustang. Not to mention a plea for her vote.
