The team doctor sits behind us. I asked how Yanick was and he said "he's fine", coaches just hadn't been able to get him in for very many minutes.

I don't know. I really don't have a clue. But it seems to me that one ranks right up there with " I did not have sex with that woman."

Yanick deserved and should have played last night. I couldn't believe he didn't. You could tell LB was real upset about that as well

The real reason Yanick is having a hard time getting minutes is LB uses a philosophy of you earn your playing time. Who thinks Markus Kennedy should play less minutes? Who thinks Cunningham hasn't played really well of the bench? It's really obvious LB feels bad about Yanick's situation, he is healthy and a good player but the 2 guys that are infront of him are playing to well to sit right now. I think LB feels really bad about that because Yanick went down with an injury which is not his fault. In LB mind they all deserve to play but he just doesn't have the minutes to give him.

could it be academics or eligibility related, maybe he's being looked into and we are playing it safe by not playing him.

Lol @ this thread. Because every coach sits their 2nd best player when they're healthy...

He definitely deserves more minutes than Cunningham if that's a serious question. And he's a better player than Shawn Williams, so I guess that would suggest he deserves his minutes as well. He was playing as well or better than MK when healthy and starting in case people have already forgotten.

I'm sorry but if you think Yanick is our second best player right now, you haven't been watching much SMU basketball.

What evidence do you have to suggest otherwise? He was before the injury. Did he get that much worse since injury? If you tell me MK is the 2nd best player....then lol. Yanick started over him prior to injury. Either way, he's a top two big, since two bigs start....

Prior to injury who was getting more minutes?

I think some of you are missing the point. Yanick and MK should be playing AT THE SAME TIME. MK is a power forward not a center. Shawn Williams is a small forward. Yanick is a center. Personally, and of course I defer to LB, but our starting lineup should be:

Moore - PG
Russell - SG
Sterling - (he's more of an SG, but if we want to maximize our shooters/ball handlers especially against 3 guard teams we start him)
MK - PF
Yanick - Center

That gives us the ball handlers/shooters/rim protectors/rebounders.

And we've never started this set and it's been a real head scratcher to me. Regarding Williams or Sterling starting, it would depend on who we play (if it's a smaller/faster team, then you start Sterling . . . if it's a bigger team, you start Shawn).

But, again, what do I know compared to LB.

They were split and went either way. Anyways, what are you getting at? Are you trying to say Yanick is not one of the best players on the team and that's why he's not playing? or are you saying he's not playing because he's injured? Sounds like you're going with he's not one of the top three big men on the team I'm guessing because that was my original point.

Ojai pointed it out above. There are two big spots. Why isn't Moreira in one of them if he's healthy? Why isn't he even in the rotation? Cannen is not very good and Williams does not bring to the table what Yanick can even if you do choose to start him.

Has to be this. Or he isn't "just fine" (physically). Either way, someone's not telling the truth and it's starting to [deleted] me off.

Obf is right, of Yanick were truly healthy he'd be getting legit minutes. He's a top 3 player on the team
