Do you see any scenario where SMU might be able to win? I might just watch Dancing with Bachelors who Idolize Desperate Housewives with a Voice if there is not one. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: What you need to know about the Minnesota Golden Gophers
No, not at all. ![]() I guess I am the antithesis of the this game will be a cakewalk people. Going to be a good game imo. #HammerDown
Re: What you need to know about the Minnesota Golden GophersThis team has amazed me too much to be negative. All I worry about is a team that does not miss 3s all night. Thought that was going to be Clemson but they missed them in the second half. I think Arkansas hit 10 in the first half and then hung on. I agree it should be a good game but I am giving SMU my full confidence for a win until they end up otherwise.

Re: What you need to know about the Minnesota Golden Gophers
They're both good guards, but that's about all they have this year. They lost quite a bit from last years team which was much better imo. Richard will have that ship righted soon enough though. Tubby is a mess wherever he goes.
Re: What you need to know about the Minnesota Golden GophersWe've played some pretty darn good guard tandems this year and handled them fairly well. Napier and Boatwright> Hollins and Mathieu?
Louisville, Cincy and Memphis all have great guards. I think we match up better against these guys than we did against Clemson and would against Florida State. We've had a number of games where teams have shot lights out for a half agqainst us. Only once was it the seconds half when Russdiculous barfed all over us. I think we can deal with this. Party at The Wopper!
Re: What you need to know about the Minnesota Golden GophersJust don't let Nick get into foul trouble. When he did that vs. Louisville out came the press. Pitino's son will do the same, count on it.
If Nick can play smart we should be good. ![]() Go Ponies!!
Beat whoever it is we are playing!! @PonyGrad
Re: What you need to know about the Minnesota Golden Gophers
Tubby seems to be doing a good job in turning a morbid Texas Tech program around. #HammerDown
Re: What you need to know about the Minnesota Golden GophersJr will be getting a full coach report from daddy to be sure. They will go at nic to try to get him in trouble early.
Re: What you need to know about the Minnesota Golden Gophers
Could they possibly have got worse? ![]() Anyways, in the grocery store, had an SMU tshirt on, dude stops me to talk about the game last night. I laughed.
Re: What you need to know about the Minnesota Golden Gophers
I'd like to think that Nic used the Louisville and UH games as a means for refocusing on his game and keeping his emotions in check. He's played four consecutive really smart and solid games. It would be nice to make it five.
Re: What you need to know about the Minnesota Golden GophersHonestly, I think the reason for our slow starts in the tourney is that we spend the entire first half staying out of foul trouble so that we can go "all out" in the second half.
I am guessing they will trap the ball out of Nic's hands, then focus on denying him the ball. When they run out of gas or need to protect inside, they will go to zone to force us to make shots.
Re: What you need to know about the Minnesota Golden GophersI miss the General.

Re: What you need to know about the Minnesota Golden GophersGeneral Mitch's dream matchup.
Certainly dont miss Big 10/ Minnesota talk but thx for the report!
Re: What you need to know about the Minnesota Golden GophersI think this played out pretty much how I thought it would. Minnesota's front court did nothing. If you count Joey King, then Minnesota's front court had 11 points. If you don't, then it was 3.
This game switched when SMU was up 53-46 and then turned it over twice the fueled Minnesota's run to tie it. Mathieu's big 3-point play really was the play of the game. SMU's biggest problem has been the unforced turnovers and it hurt us at the wrong time. In close games where possessions mean so much, you have to value the basketball. And I said if we do that, we're fine. But we didn't. I thought Markus Kennedy disappeared at times. And our bigs weren't great either. Cunningham threw the big donut. It really came down to somebody making a shot and I said Austin Hollins, who has been hot, made a big shot. That's what big seniors do. It really was weird for me. I'm really disappointed that we lost. But I can live with it because I know why we lost. It was a great college basketball game. It wasn't really well played. But the effort was terrific for both teams. That's what you want from your championship games. Someone has to win. Someone has to lose. We just came up a bit short to my father's alma mater. Looking forward to a great offseason. The arrow is pointed up for our boys. Who would have thought we would have been talking about SMU basketball in April.
