Plus, we allowed them to charge us a full season price for a half season last year as well.

Everything is on tv now as well, so it's not like two years ago when if you wanted to see a game you had to go. See everyone leaving the blvd to watch the game at Barley (Yes I know Ford vs Moody is a totally different experience, but still)

Be careful Mr. Hart.... part of what made moody packed every game was how affordable it was.

Yeah because getting in for free if you are a student and paying $60 for a young alumni season ticket is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE!

So, unless a lot of existing season ticket holders buy tickets in the HOF club, most of those tickets will be new season ticket holders - which means each seat will cost $3500. Wow.

PonyUp

if you are a season ticket holder in a college program in 2014 and EXPECT SMU to be competitive nationally then you should expect to make donations. That's the price for remaining a strong program-and its common across the country-its also why I'm not sure SMU is going to have enough fans to stomach the costs of SMU "overachieving" to remain a viable program. That's the only way SMU has a chance. You can only rely on the C of C for so long.

Yeah, that was a fooking joke. To play at a high school arena in front of 500 fans a night. Yippee. Nobody wanted to go to Garland to watch SMU play Little Sisters of the Poor.

It's a pretty raw deal, and tickets are more expensive than even a lot of big schools in the upper decks at those prices. I know my Ohio States are like $500 per seat total on the upper deck half-court. So 2K basically, the equivalent at SMU would be $3,600 for a new season ticket holder. That's pretty ridiculous imo especially considering the quality home games is probably better for Ohio State when you factor in a Duke/Carolina/Cuse from the ACC in the non-conference.

I know this may not be completely related, but I was wondering if any of y'all know how student tickets work. Are they free? Do grad students have access to them?

I'm actually ok with the seat prices for the most part. It is essential for the school to maximize revenue from the building - but going the way of per-seat donations seems like a dangerous way to go long term in my opinion. It would be better to raise the seat prices more.

We'll see how this goes. I'm sure we will be fine for the next couple of seasons at least.

Assuming all season ticket holders renew for next year ... There are really only 2,000 or so new seats available

3,500 seats held last year by season ticket holders
1,500 held by SMU
2,000 seats available to be purchased

But yes, fine with the new pricing. Will be renewing my two seats. I did most my damage last year in the beer line.

It is figured into their student fee. Free is not free. When I was in school I wanted to say the full time student fee was like 5 grand in 2012. Don't remember exactly though.

I'm really surprised they didn't require a second seat donation for Basketball

And please bitchin' about games that you were too lazy to go to last year? SMU Basketball does have bills to pay. You think Larry and staff were only going to coach half a season? As I said-SMU couldn't have a strong non-conference schedule last year because they couldn't pay a lot to visitors with no revenue from those games.

1. The Mod pretty much sold out all the students tickets, so you have to pay if you're a student.
2. I don't recall the young alumni tickets ever being $60
3. I'm not entirely sure what that had to do with my post, since I was talking about section 214, but ok. You're so bad at reading comprehension at times, it hurts.

Classic. Didn't complain about games I was "too lazy to go to". I went to plenty in Garland. I just pointed out they charged us Moody prices for those games.

I do agree about the second donation though. I actually expected it this year.

I agree, it's not about being lazy, it's they played them 25 minutes from campus. It easily could have added an extra hour to their time spent going to the game on a week night when people have work the following morning. Dan simply pointed out you paid the same price and didn't walk away with near the experience. I don't know how anyone could argue that. People go to games to have an experience, from what I can tell, most of those games were forgettable.
