"Midwestern State takes on Division I SMU in an exhibition contest Monday night at Moody Coliseum."

This is an exhibition game and doesn't count in the standings?

I think some other comments address this. It does not count for NCAA Tournament purposes. I guess it is like Memphis playing Christian Brothers. Hopefully the difference is that SMU will win our exhibition.

If I remember correctly every team gets 2 exhibition games or 2 private scrimmages.

SMU Mustangs vs. MSU Mustangs.

Didn't they used to be the Indians?

We used to play them every year in soccer. They were NAIA in soccer back then.

Isn't Wichita Falls where the Cowboys used to hold training camp back in the day?

So why not change their name to the Native American Mustangs?

DO they use our running pony logo?

If so, at halftime Rick Hart should serve a cease and decist order to their school during halftime. Would make for some fun entertainment.

RPI does not consider games against non-D1 teams

The Christian Brothers game isn't counted on the Memphis record, so I suppose this game doesn't count on the SMU record. Memphis is 7-4 overall. Memphis based CBU is 5-4 after its win against The University of Memphis. CBU averages an announced 150-500 per home game.

As mentioned above, tonight's game doesn't show up on the RPI tracker:

They changed from Indians to Mustangs in 2006.

The robust and jovial equine has served as the masot of Midwestern State University officially since 2006 which, ironically, was a year after the institution officially changed to Mustangs to leave the list of 19 schools with mascots that the NCAA deemed hostile and abusive.

Midwestern State's Indian moniker survived 83 years as the school developed through the junior college ranks first as Wichita Falls Junior College and Hardin Junior College before becoming a full-fledged four-year instution in 1946.

Didn't SMU have two private scrimmages against Baylor and Colorado? Hard to believe a game this late into the season would be labeled as an "exhibition". Maybe the quote should have used "non-conference" instead of "exhibition"?
