Why are they saying NM is a dirty player? Because he leans into players and draws fouls? As several ESPN commentators have noted, that's good old school playing there!

Because he is a good player on the other team that has tattoos.

Yep. He's had some incidents - primarily last year - where his emotions got the better of him and he committed some hard and/or unnecessary fouls, but he wouldn't even enter the conversation for "dirtiest" college basketball players.

he hasn't even fouled out of a single game this year although he plays 32+ minutes-so officials don't seem to think he is playing dirty

Night and day from last year. He has managed himself excellently.

He, Cannen, and MK showed tremendous character yesterday (including Yanick). I would have been kicked out about 5 minutes in.

because you tend to really not like the other player on the team that kicks your tail. Similar to me disliking Ginobili, Parker, etc. NM is a player and doesn't back down to anyone. He has matured a lot, last year he did some stupid things. Controlled his temper.

I've found that my visceral hatred for opposing players is much stronger in hoops than in football. For me, being able to see their entire face and every reaction they have during the game makes them much more hate-able. And don't forget hoops offers much closer shots of the players. Plus football players have their faces obscured by the helmets and many camera shots are pulled too far back to really see them.
Perfect example is when Purvis (in the process of having an out-of-body experience against us) threw down a monster dunk and flexed for the crowd. Made me despise him so much, simply because he was kicking our a*s and you could see every bit of emotion.

If you take away the incredible once-in-a-lifetime shooting of 10 3pt shots this game isn't close. The guy was averaging 15 pts a game and hit 30 here! Amazing shots going in that won't fall again in his lifetime.
Long live Inez Perez!

Yep, like Luis Suarez in soccer. He's the guy that wants to win so badly he will do anything. You want him on your team and you hate to play against him.
