I've never cried from a sports loss though.
I cried as if the world had ended when my 6th grade pee wee football team lost to our cross town rival. Havent done so since, but have certainly wanted to. Especially this past Thursday.

I was not much older than that kid when SMU lost that Cotton Bowl game to Georgia. Not sure if I cried, but I know it was a major disappointment in my life at that time. Had some tough post season bball losses in the next several years, too but all in all, it's been fun being a Mustang fanatic. This kid is getting ready to experience some good times...not unlike I did in the Doc Hayes era

I called him from work while he was watching and asked if he wanted me to tell him what happened..... I couldn't let him get kicked in the balls knowingly. He said "we lost didn't we?" I told him how and it's dead silence on the phone followed by hysterical crying.
I don't really want my eight year old son doing any hysterical crying, especially over a sports score.
I love that he genuinely cares and has passion as an 8 yr old for something so much that it hurts. I love that he was crying and showing compassion for yannick when he saw another person hurting like that. I love that he wants to go to games and bond and spend time with me. So if you have an 8 yr old feel free to parent as you wish, but no need to comment on mine.
It was very painful, even for an older guy like myself. You and your son will never forget that moment, a moment of real bonding. Just like I am sure the parent at the game with his crying son, they will never forget, and yet value those memories forever. Good for you and all of us that encourage our kids to be passionate fans.

I posted in another thread that it feels to me like SMU basketball 2015 = SMU football 1980. I hope so!

i'd say it is close - but we could use a Mudiay-ish (Dickerson) player to help us punch it a bit further.
I really like next years team with one more quality big.

I felt terrible for the little guy when they first showed it on TV, but then I actually felt glad. I felt glad because a large and growing group of fans -- of all ages -- are getting on board. Improvement isn't a straight line, but SMU is here to stay.

Of course Mudiay might have brought a Dickerson-ish NCAA investigation

I cannot stop thinking about a Round of 32 matchup against a 14 seed for the right to be the only Texas team advancing to the Sweet Sixteen and qualifying for a regional in Houston with no juggernaut or even local fan base to compete with and either a chance for revenge against the 2 seed or facing a lower seed (7) for the third straight round. A lot of opportunity taken away.

My 5 yr old daughter went into hysterics after Nic missed the second time. Great teaching moment, fantastic bonding, we both were crushed.
