If we didn't self-report, who snitched?

We did not self report. As part of our probation from Doherty, NCAA opened a review. During review, they identified the reports of grade changes surrounding Frazier and his high school. They then investigated that but found nothing specific associated with that report. During investigation, Frazier received immunity and he and the secretary told the truth about an online course not necessary for his eligibility as did Larry once he was made aware by Frazier and the secretary.

Right-after Ch. 8 report on Keith's grade changes SMU and NCAA jointly opened up an investigation at least according to the NCAA Report which uses word "jointly".

Thanks for the info. So seems like it's fair to say that as soon as we understood there might be an issue with his grades we worked "jointly" and in good faith to figure what had happened.

Hopefully with the success they have had they can upgrade in future classes although I must admit these players now are some good-looking kids, unselfish and fun to watch.

With the exception of maybe one, all the kids on the team are making the grades.

How did Doh get caught (which seems to have started all this 'joint' business?

so funny, with ut or unc, the ncaa would have chosen to ignore the whole thing and call it an isolated incident. They are trying like hell to drag it out and hope the unc affair blows over and the past players shut up. With SMU they sure let us have it and made sure they ruined our big year. Absolutely no councidence of timing.

Don't forget that the LB penalty was a violation of the Doh probation. Which made it more severe. In turn that was compounded by the fact that the Doh probation was a higher level of sanction than it would have been under normal circumstances given the violation because we were on probation from when Tubbs bought the team cheeseburgers and we self reported that putting us on probation. So this was all compounded exponentially. It's not an isolated instance.

Unbelievable that SMU alumni Max Williams ratted us out on that because he was butthurt that his grandson wasn't playing when it was he (Williams) who provided the funds.
From a DMN article:
"Tubbs did, apparently, make one major mistake in his short stay at Moody Coliseum. He gave a scholarship to the grandson of SMU booster and oil man Max Williams, who played basketball on the Hilltop in the '50s.

Williams was one of the last defenders of Bob Hitch, the SMU AD in the early '80s who reportedly was aware of the payments to football players that gave SMU the infamous identity it will never shake.

Williams was one of only a handful of witnesses to the scandal, including several suspended boosters, who refused to be interviewed then by the Bishops' panel that produced the damning investigative report on it all. He went on to employ Hitch after Hitch was defrocked.

But Tubbs extended an opportunity to Williams' grandson Matt, who was a freshman last season. He played very little. Next thing Tubbs knew, granddaddy told school officials he gave Tubbs money to buy some meals for some players, which would be a violation."

Billy Tubbs was the TCU head coach - perhaps they should be on probation.

Burgers and Cheer was Jimmy...
