well, there can't be more than 1-2K season ticket holders during Doh's years right?

I thought it was 197

That is in the vicinity of what they said tonight.......it might have been a little over 200.[/quote]
197 is 5+ years. They changed it down to 4+ years which moved it over 200 but I doubt it made much difference.

If someone has seats currently that they bought this year, how do they get displaced if they are willing to pay the price required? I don't understand that part and who jumps ahead of them?

The way I interpret it, the people who can jump ahead and take your seats from you will be those who (1) have higher priority, and (2) already have season tickets.

For example, I have 2 tickets in 205. In the event someone with 2 tickets in the loge, floor, or red seats decides they don't want to pay the new price for their seats, they can displace me for the same price I would otherwise pay, so long as they have higher priority. Am I right on this?

Very hard for me to justify 1k a year for 2x seats, especially given I am a part time masters student at the university working full time. Guess I will be joining the stubhub/streaming people. Really dissapointed at seat prices effectively doubling 2x years in a row.

I was there. Although they prefaced the entire meeting by saying they are looking for feedback, nothing is final, etc., it was clear that decisions had already been made.

The biggest mistake is alienating current season ticket holders by not allowing them to simply pay the new prices. As someone else said, they can avoid a lot of these problems and generate the same revenue by giving right of first refusal for every seat to its current owner. For what it's worth, I made a few calls after getting the initial note about the reseating, and was assured that this would be the case - "don't worry, the letter was worded incorrectly, you can keep your same tickets but they might be more expensive."

It's clear that they're trying to drive immediate cash into the Mustang Club. Several things they said made me feel like they're trying to play donors against one another - "the biggest factor is how much you give, this year."

We have 4 tickets this year, will probably go to 2. It's a shame that this is happening now. Timing is everything. These guys seem pretty confident that they have it all figured out. Let's hope they do, but I'm skeptical. Nonetheless, I'll probably re-up at some level and keep going to the games.

I hope everyone affected by this does the exact same thing. I hate to be a pessimist, but you'll probably be able to get them back in a year or two when SMU starts sending the e-mails begging for new season ticket holders again anyway... if you still want them at that point.

Remember that it is now a separate donation for football and basketball.

I know! It's almost impressive that they've managed to parlay the basketball season ticket cash grab into damaging the number of football season ticket holders. And, even better, they get to mask this damage due to the additional (temporary) season ticket holders they're acquiring from hiring a new head coach.

At least we are a few years away from having to worry about a "reseating" of Ford

This is exactly the wrong message to send the new season ticket holdersm the reason they set records for sales was for OOC opponents stubhub profits.

Wow...just bending people over. That's unbelievable. Think I'd be upset too. Especially when tickets for the OOC games are going for more than 5 bucks a piece. Arkansas had tickets on StubHub at 3 per about 5 minutes before tipoff and that's a big OOC game. It's cheaper to buy the tickets on the secondary market 9/10 times then the ticket office at those prices.

Is the process to start with a blank map and totally repick from scratch, or does everyone start with their seats unless someone specifically bumps you?

What a bunch of [deleted] fools in the AD office. Really hope the temporary cash you [deleted] holes are gonna make will offset the loss of long time fans.

The increased revenue for re-seating is the increased donor levels to ensure you are one of the ones getting the top spots. People are going to up their levels to ensure keeping their seats, that's where the increased revenue is going to come from.

The other potential problem and several raised this concern. Is the higher ranked folks will also be given the opportunity to increase their seat numbers. Some will downgrade and some will probably decrease their seat numbers, but . . .

If any of the details shared on this thread are correct - and I have no reason to believe that they aren't - then everyone responsible for this including Rick Hart needs to be canned.

Leave it to SMU to completely F up the one good thing we have going.

Here is what this policy says:

Jumped on the bandwagon the second we hired Larry Brown? Screw you, you lose your seats.
Graduated in the past few years but bought season tickets as soon as you graduated? Screw you, you lose your seats.
Are you just a regular person who has Had season tickets longer than 4 years? You can keep your seats, just take out a second mortgage to do so.
Are you our one fan from the greater Dallas area that despite having no affiliation with SMU has supported us through thick and thin? Thanks for that support, now we are going to gouge the crap out of you.
Did you make each and every trip to Garland last year? Thanks for your loyalty...in return, you get ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Do you also support the horrible SMU football program? Fantastic, but your football donation is completely meaningless in helping you get any basketball seats.

It was unclear what the procedure would be to select seats. If it's going to be in blocks, which was the implication, then basically no one, except the grandfather folks, will be guaranteed your same seats. It seems like it will be first come first served in selecting on the website where you want to sit. In other words when it's your window, the first person to log-in could take your seats, then when you logged-in you'd be left with what was left. I could be wrong here, but this seems how it's going to work.

I also agree with folks, they started the meeting with the caveat that none of this was set in stone, but went on to basically justify everything that was being done. The "townhall" meetings are for show, to pretend they are eliciting feedback from the season ticket holders, easier to justify to the media when people start going there to complain.

I would not categorize the feeling of folks last night as angry (there were several), but I will say the only people that were satisfied were the ones that were grandfathered in. The fair way to handle this is to let current season ticket holders renew their same seats with the increased donor levels, if folks can't afford it or don't want them at that price, then open them up. This is not going to happen and SMU, once again, is going to make a really bad move and stand there and scratch their heads wondering why they don't have a more stable fan base.

They will post a sort of ranking on Monday, showing you where you sort of fall in line based on your donor level and points among season bball ticket holders. This is to encourage you to up your donation and improve your standing before May 31, when the rankings are final.

We're probably not going to renew our fball or bball tickets. Just don't feel like SMU athletics is being either fair or loyal with this plan. The constant references to other programs is getting old (neither Baylor, Cincy, nor UConn are our peers when it comes to where our programs are at, much less a Duke, Kansas, or North Carolina). We can't afford to up our donation level in hopes that we will be in a position to keep the same area of where our tickets are currently located. If we were guaranteed our seats, you bet we would, but since we are not really being given that option . . .
