Anybody going to the reseat discussion Dec. 11?Moderators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: Anybody going to the reseat discussion Dec. 11?
If any of the details shared on this thread are correct - and I have no reason to believe that they aren't - then everyone responsible for this including Rick Hart needs to be canned.
Leave it to SMU to completely F up the one good thing we have going. Here is what this policy says: Jumped on the bandwagon the second we hired Larry Brown? Screw you, you lose your seats. Graduated in the past few years but bought season tickets as soon as you graduated? Screw you, you lose your seats. Are you just a regular person who has Had season tickets longer than 4 years? You can keep your seats, just take out a second mortgage to do so. Are you our one fan from the greater Dallas area that despite having no affiliation with SMU has supported us through thick and thin? Thanks for that support, now we are going to gouge the crap out of you. Did you make each and every trip to Garland last year? Thanks for your loyalty...in return, you get ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Do you also support the horrible SMU football program? Fantastic, but your football donation is completely meaningless in helping you get any basketball seats.
I agree with this 100%. I was a student at SMU from 2003-2010. I have attended countless basketball games, football games, and even soccer matches over those years. I already dropped my football tickets to justify last year's bball ticket prices (plus I wanted to "vote with my wallet" to show my disgust at keeping JJ). I donate to the SMU Law School and Engineering School. I picture myself as SMU's ideal long-term donor. What message do I get from SMU????? I get a big F You... Pony up, sucker. Look, I want SMU to recoup as much $ as possible with sports revenue. However, this is just so shortsighted it's shocking. Especially given the fact that bball has been a disappointment so far. I realize this was probably planned awhile ago, but shouldn't they have put this plan on pause to see how the rest of the season plays out? And, why not let football donations count for bball? Why discourage football season ticket purchases? Are they really worried that Ford might sell out? Lol. With SMU athletics it always seems like one step forward, two steps back. I actually had confidence that Hart was going to change that. Guess I was wrong.
Re: Anybody going to the reseat discussion Dec. 11?and of course the timing of this is so SMU- a few days before this meeting a lot of people received an 'urgent' request for 500k for 'additions/renovations' to Lloyd center. In addition, they give these things to you as a Xmas present. Great timing pony admin.
Re: Anybody going to the reseat discussion Dec. 11?I've been playing by the rules now for several years. I've kept football tickets and made donations. I should have bought BB tickets last year but we moved back to town in late October and it just never happened. I went to all of the football games this year and make sure that I have SMU fans butts in the seats when I can't use my BB tickets.
It will be pretty hard to make my tickets any worse (above the rail in section 201 with a banner blocking the top third of the jumbotron). They're not terrible seats but they're certainly not awesome. With all of that said, I'll be pretty pissed if I'm not even allowed in the building next year. I don't mind prices go up but I *do* mind getting kicked out of line. Texas bites. Baylor sucks. As it was in the beginning, is now, and evermore shall be. Amen.
Re: Anybody going to the reseat discussion Dec. 11?So to people who were there... Young alumni are just screwed? No other way around it unless we can fit the bill? We got special young alumni pricing so I am assuming that will not be applicable anymore?
Re: Anybody going to the reseat discussion Dec. 11?
Were the specially priced young alumni seats in the "premium" sections? Peruna is my mascot!
Re: Anybody going to the reseat discussion Dec. 11?
nope
Re: Anybody going to the reseat discussion Dec. 11?
The cheapest seats next year are $180 and require no donation. Peruna is my mascot!

nope
The cheapest seats next year are $180 and require no donation.
Oh ok, thanks.
Re: Anybody going to the reseat discussion Dec. 11?I was there last night and everyone who currently has seats will have the opportunity to buy seats again. Just not necessarily the same ones....you will be given a time block to choose your seats on a 3D interactive map of moody in June. Rankings for the times are first dependent on your up front donation to the mustang club. Then, within that tier of donations they will use your priority points to determine your place.
The prices are not too ridiculous but it is the up front donation that will get people if they want to try and get their same seats....that annoyed me. Lastly, they were unclear last night if your tailgate donation would go towards your BB donation. I am going to call next week and try to clarify that point.
Re: Anybody going to the reseat discussion Dec. 11?I will wait for the final bill and call but it's unfortunate if all this is moving forward.
We aren't even in conference play yet, so the timing of all this seems a bit strange too. The floor and suites guys have no problem paying the bill. The common fan is the one getting screwed.
Re: Anybody going to the reseat discussion Dec. 11?
Did they give people handouts at this meeting stating what was going to happen? If so I would like to see because it is sounding more and more like it is a complete departure from what I was promised verbally and in writing by SMU about my rights to renew my seats with the purchase of my season tickets over the last 2 years. I hope I'm wrong but It's starting to feel more and more like litigation between me and SMU is in my future.
Re: Anybody going to the reseat discussion Dec. 11?
Wow. That's the first I have heard of that. So people can buy priority over long-time Mustang Club members. Nice. Shake It Off Moody
Re: Anybody going to the reseat discussion Dec. 11?
Make no mistake - the donation is part of the price.
Re: Anybody going to the reseat discussion Dec. 11?
In general, increased donations will increase your priority at just about any school. That said, the way SMU is going about this (rankings within rankings, strange/premature timing, etc.) make everything seem so... shady? If someone described a system like this for buying or participating in just about anything else I'd tell them to steer clear because it was probably a scam. At best this is due to very poor planning... at worst I guess it is kind of a scam. I'm thankful that I'll be grandfathered in, but seeing the way this is going to affect a number of my slightly younger friends has made it really clear that this is a terrible idea with even worse implementation.
