This is going to be a rough year. I have no faith in Akoy, I hope I’m proved wrong. This is his third school with limited minutes. Our freshman guards look like they are transfer candidates by the end of the year with the way they are playing. We may not even be an NIT team if we don’t have better output by the bigs.
I’m not sure what quality win we can get with the talent that we have. I love Shake but he still struggles on drives to finish, so when he isn’t hitting jumpers his game will struggle. The team played tentative. Reminded me of the last possession against USC during the tournament.
I chalk it up to recruiting, next year we will better in terms of our bigs. Our recruiting is very flawed. This is the year the sanctions really hurt us.
LB’s 0 for 3 in the 2016 class did hurt. I think Jank has recruited well. Chargois and Ray are good big prospects. I like Douglas potential. McMurray and Mike should both be big time players. It’s a rebuild year, but depending on how McMurray meshes and how Akoy looks we still could be a tourney team. We looked tentative and everyone declared us a NIT team last season after Boise so let’s actually wait until the end of OOC play and not decide based on one game where we played bad that this young team who hasn’t played much together yet doesn’t even look like a NIT team..

Blasphemy. Telling us not to throw in the towel after 5 games with a 4-1 record cannot be tolerated on Ponyfans.

That 0 for three is on the entire coaching staff not just LB. I think we gel more as the season goes on but so will everyone else.

This is what happens in Ponyland when people actually start [deleted] about how few Top 25 votes we got in Basketball or are bitterly incensed when the worst FBS football program in the Country doesn't go to a Bowl after Year 2 of a total Rebuild or talk about winning the AAC in Year 3. Some ponyfans who only casually know what they are talking about actually start believing that crap is true. Stop listening to these fools. No our recruiting isn't seriously flawed- our bench is 4 seats too small (for 3rd year) and we are relying on 2 true freshman in the post who are still learning to play College Basketball. Realistic assessments are met with the ridiculous "lowered expectations" meme-
Big Picture was always developing this team early in the season so it could develop into a strong team by AAC season and hopefully a Tournament team by March when we have Akoy and MacMurray. Part of that Plan involved Akoy holding down the Post in non-conference play-so yes this present team under current conditions does have a lowered ceiling than we had hoped

Let’s also hope that Agau’s injury will not be something that bothers him off and on the entire year.

pretty brutal 16 hour turnaround for UNI leading early over NCSU 13-9. With SMU's 6 man rotation would have been tough

Strange the winners have the early games but obviously for TV.

well maybe UNI loss won't be in Category of a Bad Loss if UNI holds on to their early 21-16 lead

UNI only played 6 guys "significant" minutes last night. Rotation similar to ours. They might be better than everyone thinks.
