People weren't defending Doherty. People were arguing that it's stupid for SMU to fire Doherty when he had contractual leverage, and an AD that had given Doherty a public, explicit window that was needed to rebuild the program, and moving to their fourth coach in six years.

Doh was at SMU for six years. The contract Orsini gave him was stupid, but we were all drunk on Orsini Kool-Aid at the time (or maybe that was just me)

This isn't the time after his CIT run subsequent collapse. It's been a few years, but I remember a very loud chorus calling for Doherty to be fired prior to the manufactured momentum 20-15 CIT run against an absolutely awful slate of opponents. These individuals wanted Robodoh fired despite the fact that the school had made up NCAA allegations to fire a black coach, given Doherty an iron-clad contract, and Orsini had publicly, numerous times stated and agreed that it was a five year rebuild process for Robodoh, and SMU would have been on it's 4th hoops coach in 6 or 7 years, which is atrocious.

Prideful Pony, the fact that you are still referencing posts from almost 3 months ago shows me that you have not moved on. Why spend the time commenting on ancient history? If you want to still hang on to polls and innocent newbie poster comments that I have made, whatever makes you sleep better at night. I sleep pretty well.

Thing is that I have never said that "I knew that already" or that I fully understand how recruiting works. I just wanted more facts instead of the ridiculous posts stating that people know more about topics such as recruiting, but that they cannot tell us what they know. If you know more than us, educate us, don't talk down to us. When the truth comes out, it is very possible that a number posters in our our fanbase know more than we all think.

Read any of my posts. I just understand that AAU influences recruiting and that we are more than likely now traveling 70mph down the same highway (as we should have been all along). Your "for realsies guys" comments show us your interpretation of my comments, not my actual words. Get over yourself. Maybe you and Hoopmanx can get together, hold hands, and have a "stair in the mirror" contest. "I am good enough, I am smart enough, and god darn it people like me".

99% of the time, it's not good practice to throw stuff up on recruiting boards. So when you ask Hoopmanx a story, he probably can't give it to you or doesn't want to have stuff spread, sometimes can't say it simply because it throws somebody under the bus. It's for the same reasons I'm vague when I talk about the ticket office at SMU or when I say I talked with someone close to a recruitment. The only reason I gave Eric's name in this thread as one person I spoke with at length about Turner is because he wouldn't mind what I said being out there and I felt it needed some sort of credibility behind it. Otherwise it sounds like I'm throwing [deleted] against the wall to see what sticks. Can't always give certain background on a message board, so you're probably going to have to trust his word or decide he's full of [deleted] because he probably can't or doesn't want to give you specifics for any number of reasons to an anonymous poster.

I doubt he's trying to be a jerk or talk down to people on a message board that matters very little in the big scheme of things.

Stand Up, just go away. You've said multiple times you don't know jack [deleted] about basketball and are a new fan, so shut your pie hole, please.

And what is with your odd bolding and italicizing in all of your damn posts?

Come on guy's, now that there have been 20 pages of bs on this matter...let's move on already. I don't understand the nitpicky back and forth about who said what, when. Everyone thinks they are an expert and have the "inside track" on recruits. At this point let's just wait and Myles will tell the whole world when he is good and ready. PLEASE....enough finger pointing!!! and MOVE ON.

blackoutpony, I can always count on you to post something intelligent. Always enjoy reading your posts! You always seem to really add a lot of value to the conversation.

I have never posted that I do not know jack about basketball. I have never said that I was a new fan. All I have posted is that I am an SMU Alum, support my school, am an avid college basketball fan, and am relatively new to posting on ponyfans.com (4 months), (but I have been reading ponyfans.com for over 15+ years). Why any of that matters to you is beyond me?

If you don't like the content of my posts please ignore them. I am not looking to impress you, hoopmanx, or Prideful Pony. Maybe I should take my own advice and not respond to your less than educated posts.

Always enjoy reading your commentary, both here and on Twitter. Thanks for the history recap. Good as always. "Manufactured momentum" is my favorite. Could. Not. Agree. More.

That's exactly right. What would you do if you happened to have a higher level of understanding or insight in a particular subject or field but kept seeing halfway opinions from blowhard, know it all types known for consistently degrading those who dare disagree with them? Hoopmanx has shown remarkable restraint all in all IMO.
