That game was actually in December 1986. You are correct that it was the DMN Classic. We lost 88-86 in OT. Carolina was ranked #4 in that game. And the electricity at Reunion that night was amazing. The crowd was shouting S-M-U during the break between regulation and OT. Too bad we lost that one.

Best new era game: The ESPN Pajama Party game against TCU in Sasser's first year. Packed house at Moody for an 11 PM tipoff on ESPN. Sasser, a frosh, was the best player on the court but got hurt just before halftime and SMU lost by 2 or 3. Huge crowd, great atmosphere, another tragic loss.

The TCU-SMU game at SMU you mention is the most fun I have ever had at a college basketball game, home or away. And not just because we ended up winning. It was an awesome atmosphere and the crowds from both schools were really into the game from start to finish. Incredibly intense, just how college basketball should be.

We played some big home games while Tubbs was at TCU but I will never forget that game at SMU.

The best game I ever saw was when SMU legend Jon Forinash yanked down 7 rebounds against San Jose.........uhhh....can you say straight up baller?
