It is not necessarily only about honing his fundamentals or skills. You just bashed the WAC/NCUSA but he still isn't even regarded as the best in these two leagues. With an additional year, he will raise his stock and might actually be drafted. This will guarantee him money that will make a difference in his life. No matter how good he does in the NBA. Just making a few hundred thousand will not do this. Remember there are practically only two rounds in the NBA Draft.
If he is really that good and has the potential that you talk about then he take out an insurance policy on himself like Ashley Lelie did and will not have to worry about injury.
