STUPID - Hopkins fouls with 42 seconds....UTEP makes both baskets.

77-72

38.8 seconds left.

We play stupid when it matters at the end of games this year.

Game OVER.
79-74, SMU doesn't know how to win close games.

OVER and OUT.

Rivera outplays SMU in final minutes. Not tough enough down the stretch. Seniors need to do better.

solid effort by the Ponies. Put these two on a neutral court in the WAC Tourney and who knows? Need to win both games in this final home stand and keep some momentum going into the tourney. Sure would like to see these guys make the finals this year, although right now we look like a 4-5 seed which means if we win 1st round, Nevada will be waiting. We'd almost be better off playing from the 6 seed, but to get there means losing to Rice or Tulsa, and right now it's more important to win both those games

The team played tough in front of a very loud and hostile crowd. Five SMU players in double figures point wise. We did a good job of passing the ball around and getting everyone involved. In the end, just like last time, it was the missed FT's that made the difference. The misses this time are a little easier to understand considering the crowd. Almost 12,000 partisan fans in attendance...that is what it is like when you don't have a professional team in the same town with your team. UTEP is El Paso's basketball team.

That was an exciting game to listen to. A win would have been oh so nice. We will have more opportunities.

Simpson had 22 pts and Roberts 10 pts off the bench.

Good effort but it's time to win some, not be happy with a close one.

The 15 point unanswered string in the middle of the 2nd half took us from a 7 point lead to an 8 point deficit. I was surprised and pleased to see that we came back and made the game competitive, but it was really pretty much over after that run.
