If I were looking at UNC-Willmington, I would be concerned about why Brad Brownell left for Wright State. That was a career move that on paper made little sense.

Maybe he was forced out by UNCW's version of Max Williams for taking his kids on a trip to Mount Pilate for chicken and dumplings and a little clothes washing down by the creek.

Sure is good we listened to the local coaches on that hire, esp. after they sent us all those players the last couple years.

really how many team relatives and boosters have gotten the ball rolling on an investigation leading to the dismissal of a coach? Highly, highly strange and unusual. Most people just transfer if they dont like the coach or their potential playing time.

Tubbs is gone. He is no longer here. We are getting a BETTER COACH. You can step down from the soapbox anytime now Hoop.

The Tom Penders situation at Texas comes to mind as a similar situation. And don't forget that before it was done, Penders broke federal law by releasing a kids grades.

Any number of the names mentioned here would be better than Tubbs was at SMU. I cannot stress this enough- we could not possibly have done less with our team last year than we did. I keep making this point bc I really do feel it is true. Anyone will be an upgrade being that we could have had Bamba as player/coach and still win 4 games in conference.

On another note. In another post someone claimed that Rob Evans = Jimmy Tubbs. I cannot even fathom how someone could compare the 2 when you look at Evans' list of accomplishments in his career. He would be a tremendous upgrade for our program.

Whether we get a better coach or not remains to be seen. If we get a better coach and he performs better than Tubbs, then we'll all breathe a sigh of relief. If we get that 95 year old high school coach because no one else will take this job, or if this coach falls on his face because the players won't play for him and he can't get quality recruits, then we'll look really really stupid. Just as long as Max's grandson sees some Court time.

WHY is he gone? Don't know? Neither do the rest of us!!!! That's the reason for the soapbox.

If I was a new coach, I'd be damn sure that SMU released the REAL reasons for Tubbs' dismissal befre I took this crappy job, 'cause right now its burgers and Cheer, boys, burgers and Cheer!!!

You are right, possibly more $ is the only reason I can see. i don't really think they're in that much better of a conference?? He did lose a few seniors, but he runs a bball camp here and is really liked by the community. Who the *#@# would leave the beach for Wright State??

On another note, blogster were you a LCA at SMU?

I would say Wright State is in a worse conference that UNCW. And as far as I know the $$$ wasn't much better. From what I read, a lot had to do with the AD.

And, yes, I was a LXA (or LCA).
