Nice Win,

Man, that has got to be some kind of record, game finished in 1:35 minutes wall clock time.

Stallion's point is well taken that this team was very short and they only dressed 8 players, but still SMU starts 2-0 against D1 opponents for the first time since 2001.

Looking forward to see how we do against Florida State tomorrow.

Still, two straight wins over teams that had better RPI's than SMU last year.

Good to see scoring all around. Never happened last year.

Also good to see we aren't playing down to our competition which happened humerous times last year.

Not the best opponent, but some definite positives. Too lazy to look it up but I don't think we scored many games in the 70's -- nice that we got hot from outside.

significant improvement today - nice TO vs assist ratio, good 3 pt shooting and getting the ball into the low post. We may all have to revise our expectations for this bunch. Let's see how they do against a quality opponent tomorrow

Can't read too much into this but McN the other night did have an 11-point lead on Florida St before wearing down in 2nd half

Heh,

Good stuff on Doh's post game radio interview, he ends it with ripping Rich for wearing a purple shirt by telling him hes not working for TCU. He promises to break out the red and blue tomorrow.

I think Rich did ok at play by play, but I miss Allen doing it, its kind of tradition, not used to him being the analyst.

CP, we've been waiting for a long time for a coach to get the most out of the players, way too early, but a good sign so far....

When did Stone do the games? I attended the games 2000-2004, so I never heard the radio. I know Josh Lewin did the games for one year and then Rich started last year, isn't that correct? Was Stone before that...he has a cool voice.

Better shooting night at 48 percent (opponent may have had something to do with that)

Love the balanced scoring, 17, 14, 13, 12.

Fall with 6 blocks (11 in two games?)

Jon Killen career highs in points (13) and assists (9)

Turnovers were better at 12.

All you want to see against FSU is continued improvement. This is a game that we're not suppose to win. But play hard and see if the Noles implode. But we got the 2 down there that we needed.

During post-game, Doherty gave props to the "prior staff" for recruiting our big men, something he admitted never being able to do at ND or NC. Not significant, but I thought it was interesting.

Nice to give props to former staffs. But also somewhat modest since he recruited Ryan Humphrey to Notre Dame (1st round NBA pick) and Sean May (NBA lottery pick) to UNC. Whiffed on a few other big men but that happens to everyone and in a couple of cases the recruits went straight to NBA. I recall Kansas fans all over Roy williams 2000-03 for whiffing 3 straight years on big guys

Are you calling him a liar? I should hope you'd have more respect for our new coach.

Just kidding. You showed up on this board about the same time he got hired. What is your connection to Doherty?

More of a long-time college bball fan. And SMU. Guess I'm a front-runner also :D
--showed up because I thought the bball program will now significantly improve over time. We'll see.

And I actually like to see coaches give props to former staffs. Lots of coaches come in trashing all that came before, which I'm sure makes the current players feel bad. The roster obviously needs upgrading but some teachable talent is on there and the players seem receptive and can be "coached up". I wish more coaches would focus on coaching up existing talent (while at the same time recruiting their butts off to get better talent) rather than bemoaning what they were left.
