good? seriously, that was probably the weakest Rice team i have ever seen. and that is really saying something. not much to like about the way we played tonight really despite finally getting a W. chucking alot of shots and terrible 3s from distance. more random substitutions and combinations. Now all of sudden malone is our sixth man tonight? just weird. the season of no continuity continues. so much for peaking at the end of the season and being dangerous. I don't see it, but glad for the win, a loss would have been awful.

First home game I have missed in several years, I was able to listen to most of it though. Blew a 16 point lead, at home, to frickin' Rice? Missed the front end of three consecutive 1 and 1's, in the final 40 seconds of the game? We tried every way possible to lose this game, to a very bad Rice team. I'm glad to get a W, but this team sux.

SMU shot pretty well tonight and the intensity and defense was pretty solid, still though, Rice almost shot their way back in it and Free Throw shooting almost cost us.
Nice to see Walker, Nyakundi, and Bamba have solid games on a night when McCoy and Williams were a bit off.
Hopefully, we can build on this now that we got another one in the W column.

Conference wins are always a good thing. Style points don't mean much. That said, I think we both know this was two really bad teams
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones

enjoyed seeing that pic.
Doherty went with a 3 guard look and it gave Walker a chance to step up, which he did. I think McCoy needs more rest than he is being given. Obviously we need him on the floor, but I'd like to see his 37 minutes cut down to about 35.
Will be interesting to see if the guys can compete at UTEP. I'm still looking at USM as our next chance for another W.
Can they match last year's 10 wins? That would be a good finish, given the way this season has gone.

Hubie Brown was commenting during an ESPN NBA broadcast this week wherein in he made an adamant statement that any team that did not have a back up point guard that could give them at least 18 minutes per game would not make it out of the first round. I think you observation re McCoy is very valid and that he needs more rest. We have seen a number of recent games where a good part of the strategy is to totally pressure McCoy and Williams to the point that they are exhaused by the middle of the 2d half. At this point, they start making turnover mistakes and their legs are gone for their shots.
