Re: Penders will reportedly not return
True. BCG is a great fit @ Houston. “When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones
Re: Penders will reportedly not returnI don't understand why Dave Rose doesn't get mentioned regarding UH given that he is a UH alum from the Phi Slamma Jamma era. I think he would definitely be a good fit at SMU if we can provide enough of an incentive for him.
Re: Penders will reportedly not returnRose would be great. He turned UH down today. Lower risk than BCG but probably more of a longer term solution. I hope it's BCG due to the excitement and quick results he's expected to deliver. He's already out scouting AAU and JUCOs.
Re: Penders will reportedly not return
I just saw that in Steve Campbell's blog. That's too bad!
Re: Penders will reportedly not return
Well, everyone is either a retread or an assistant or a coach at a "lower" school. I have no problem with assistants or re-treads. I had no problem with the Doh hire (disappointed it hasn't worked out). I had huge problems with the Tubbs hire, which had nothing to do with the fact that he was an assistant. My issue was the fact that he was an assistant that would not have considered at any other school in the country for a HC job. It was the fact that if the HC at OU dropped dead in the middle of the game, the school wouldn't have picked Tubbs as even the interim coach. Tubbs was a give-up hire by Copeland. He didn't care enough at that point to try to land a good coach. Anyone that was paying attention knew the letter from Dallas HS coaches was worthless. Every great HC starts as an assistant. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Re: Penders will reportedly not returnSam Houston State head basketball coach Bob Marlin will be accepting the head coaching job at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette on Monday. The Ragin' Cajuns have scheduled a news conference and Marlin met with his players on Friday to inform them of his departure.
