So what ? How does this have anything to do with the UNT or pony basketball programs ? Your basketball team is still pathetic.

Is there a reason you are still on here?....go back whence you came with your little eagle ..'CAW'....UNT is Tier 2 and even with SMU's issues, we could still whip your sorry green arses.....

It seems you have some sort of personal vendetta against UNT. It really is pathetic when someone must go outside the scope of the topic (basketball) to validate the reasons why your school is better. You don't win very many arguments doing this. Okay, I get it, your dad can beat up my dad. However, your school still sucks at basketball and has for quite some time. Get over yourself.

Hopefully the next SMU HC will schedule a game against the Mean Green & we can watch Williams in action. No reason SMU shouldn't be playing UNT, TCU, Baylor, & UTA every year in basketball. I would much rather see them in the annual tournament than Lamar, Portland State, & UC Davis.
That would make to much sense & actually bring some fans to Moody.
Congrats to UNT for getting an exciting "above the rim" type player who's going to make an immediate impact on their program. Its just too bad that SMU won't schedule the Mean Green in hoops & put an end to all the speculation.

SMU should schedule NTSU, if only b/c its a W for the program. We need as many as we can get. Papawasamustang, NickSMU, myself and two randoms could win 25 games in the Sun Belt.

Here's the thing, W/L records aside, we're still a relatively high mid, and you are a low major. Switch places and we win the Belt too. It's gonna be fun watching Snap Peters rest his nuts on Williams forehead, and don't forget how Zeke is recruiting at FIU.

Somebody is a crybaby....Of course you could beat UNT, after all your 7 out of conference wins last year came against well known basketball powers like...Florida Gulf Coast, Huston-Tilloston, Texas State, Occidental, Army, North Carolina Central, and Houston Baptist. In conference you wiped the floor with powers like 8-23 Rice two times, 8-22 Tulane, 15-17 UCF, 10-21 ECU, 19-16 Houston, and got really lucky and beat one decent team all year in 24-10 Memphis. We sure do fear the powerhouse that is SMU bastketball...

Similar to UNT reputation as a University...

I can handle b-ball being average as long as you realize you suck at everything else...

I always love it when the lil guys thinks they've actually accomplished something. NTSU couldn't be anymore irrelevant nationally as a school, and w/regards to revenues. SMU won't always be average, we're a sleeping giant. Football will soon prove that, and hoops will follow thereafter. What's it like to peak as a school/program, and still not make a ripple?

FWIW, NTSU goes 6-10 in CUSA, at best. I don't even like SMUs roster this year, and I'd still take us straight up. Next year, we'd bend you over.

It is kind of funny when a tiny school calls the 4th biggest school in the state a "lil guy". Conference USA was bad last year, UNT could have won it and this year probably would too.[/quote]

good point. Let's talk about what matters, 4th biggest school in Texas. How bout we whip out some figures and talk about how well each school is endowed. How big's yours?

So...your four bowl games in a row were the R+L Carriers Bowl because...oh yeah, that's the only bowl tie in the illustrious Sun Belt has! Nice 1-3 record in those games as well. The 2001 re-entry to postseason play followed a brief lapse of...42 years. Then you up and can Dickey, name a practice facility after him (demanded by a donor, of course) and hire the offensive guru that is Todd Dodge who has gone I believe 5-31 making ol' Phil Bennett's record at the time of firing 18-42 look just stellar. And of course to finance that new stadium that might get built at some point in our lifetimes, you have to get the student body to finance a major part of it. Quite the donor base NTSU has developed there.

Maybe we should stick to basketball though, since that appears to be the immediate focus. Right now, yes, UNT has a better team than SMU, as is referenced by the recent post-season success and better outright records. Sadly, it does not have the better program, which might be difficult to recognize. Fewer NCAA tourney appearances, fewer conference championships, no Final Four appearances (Yes, 1956 was indeed a long time ago), lower ceiling, weaker competition, poorer conference affiliation, etc.

And of course you can try and throw it back in our faces that we've been terrible for 25 years, or there-a-bouts, and that's true, but the funniest thing is that the only reason we sucked is that we decided to saw our own legs off and try to run a marathon. And even despite being the epitome of mismanaged athletics, we were still more relevant than NTSU in national athletics...oh...25 out of 25 years.

But, of course, congrats on landing Jordan Williams. It appears that Doherty is looking foolish again, something that happens all too often.

From a pony perspective, all that matters is money, money, money. Mommy and daddy spending big bucks to buy an education for their dear little one. Yep, you have a bigger $$$ endowment. You are a private school dedicated to buying an education for the offspring of wealthy donors. A small price for mommy and daddy to pay to have ya out of the house....oops mansion for a few years. Heaven forbid that it would be necessary for you to actually earn an education. Without the guidance and help of mommy and daddy many of you would have your silver spoon sticking out of your arse.
