I'm at the tournament.

Spoke to one of the ECU staff after the game...said it was their first CUSA tourney win ever. The on-court brawl near the end of the first half was as ugly as the UCF offense in the second half.

So Miss is outplaying Tulane by much more than the scoreboard says. They're in total control of this game.

Read the refs completely crapped the bed at the end of the game. Tim Donaghy would be proud.

The link no longer works! Is it because there is no game going on right now?

not sure, but it's between sessions I think, so they tend to kick everyone out and start over for the night session.

Chron previews SMU/Rice:

Owls have work cut out

The Owls (13-17) come into the tournament with at least some momentum. Their 72-57 victory over UH on Saturday at Hofheinz Pavilion snapped a three-game skid and gave Rice its first season sweep of its crosstown rival since 1993.

Like the Cougars, Rice has lost several close games. In C-USA play, the Owls had eight losses by 10 or fewer points and two in overtime - including a 76-66 OT loss to SMU, which is Rice's first-round opponent at 9 p.m.

"Our team has played well throughout a lot of the year, but we don't have a lot of wins to show for it," Owls coach Ben Braun said. "We've had some pretty good efforts."

In its two previous meetings with the Mustangs, Rice has been torched by the combinaton of forwards Papa Dia, the league's defensive player of the year, and Robert Nyakundi, who is dangerous from long range. Nyakundi scored a career-high 29 points in the teams' first meeting and 26 in the rematch while Dia averaged 19.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks in the two games.

Whether the Owls survive and advance may ultimately hinge on whether they can slow down the duo.

"Dia's tall and strong and Nyakundi is a threat outside," sophomore guard Tamir Jackson said. "We can't use our post double (team) scheme. Us guards have to help on the inside by digging down and playing straight up and forcing turnovers."
