There are guys on this board who think that by not beating #15 A&M on the road and by not beating rosebowl champion @TCU that the season will be a failure, and drive byes will occur...

There are people who aren't impressed with our last 2 recruiting classes....b/c after being on life support for 25 years we should be able to compete with UT... I personally think that what has been done in football the last 2.5 years is far more impressive due to the fact it takes so much effort to turn around a football program...

I think 8-4 , 7-5 with next years schedule still shows an improving program...thats my opinion...but what do I know I am just a lowly SMU fan...

i dont know any SMU basketball fan who wouldnt agree with you and who isnt also a football fan. You are imagining enemies that dont exist. That would be paranoia.

You cant factually say the basketball team didnt greatly improve this year. People who act like that is the case are going to get a strong push back since they are wrong.

How many people have said things like that? More than one?

Regardless, you are generalizing from what one or a limited number of people post on here to say that the biggest basketball lovers hate football. Are you assuming you know who the biggest basketball lovers are based on who posts on this site?

I am not assuming there are any bball haters. Please find a post where I said anything about bball haters. You will not find one.

You claimed the biggest bball lovers are the biggest fball haters. That is the statement I responded to and so far you have done a terrible job of backing it up.

If you were referring to just one person then you should clarify that you did not mean to make a sweeping statement about all of the biggest bball lovers.

Do you consider one poster with several accounts several peoople??? The only one I know that does lash back at football is Demented/PonyDoh/hoopmanx. I am sure he will get an ego boost by the plural reference to him.

Stallion said he walked out on smu basketball 20-25 years ago. That's all I need to know.

Great supporter of football. And I know he loves the school. The other sports? Only he knows the answer to that.

I've never dogged football to dog football. It's always been retaliation. I don't even venture to the football board, or participate in football threads, for the most part. Occasionally, I try and get a feel for how football is recruiting, compared to hoops, so I ask a few directed questions. That said, I never have to leave the basketball board, to feel football salt. Also, just b/c I'm not afraid to toss it around, doesn't mean I cheer against football or wish the program ill will. I'm all for progress, burying the past, and winning ball games. There will never be a day where I cheer against SMU football.

Now, this is the part you didn't really grasp. I'm a hoops guy by trade, so I don't take off days. Come October 15th, if SMU football wants to keep my attention, they had better have a quality OOC win. I'm clear that I think nothing of the CUSA football schedule, and I really need something vs either TCU, Navy or A&M. I didn't say anyone else had to think that way, nor am I trying to sway anyone. Also, I think for 2.75 mill, its reasonable to discuss June, expectations, acceptable records, breakthrough wins etc. Many think that's heresy.

Nick, head to ponypride, check out all the Klemm love for recruiting California, and then think about the junk Doh & crew received for doing the same thing. Now, I get the impression around here, that our presence in Texas isn't as strong as it should be right now in football. I've seen that movie. The hypocrisy is everywhere w/regards to the programs, unfortunately. Guess what? I hope Klemm signs them all, and they all can play. I gave Doh & crew that benefit of the doubt too. Beat everyone

Pretty sure the same can be said for anyone on this board, but people continue to call out bball haters when many are realists with legitimate concerns.

come on, we're not talking about the ability to discuss a difference of opinion. We're talking about drive-bys on the hoops board w/the intent of undermining the program, not discussion .Again, would you like it IF one of us was to waste the entire football season spamming the football board, after garbage games, bad performances and tough losses, just to shart on the program? No actual discussion, though, just stink bombs. It sucks, especially from your own 'fans'.

Seriously, we got to the postseason in hoops, and this forum was littered w/SMU fans, primarily football posters, with no end game, other than rabble-rousing about the coach, and his job status? A guy who's been safe the entire year, had a very good year on the bench, and had an incredibly overachieving team. Well, it goes both ways. If people want to call out hoops for their year, someone should send June the riot act for 6-6, losing every big game, including a home bowl game to an embarassingly bad football team. That's the real talk, tale of the tape, on the football season.

Instead of discussing it here, though, let's take it to the football board, and I'll just drop these nuggets when you least want to hear them, at completely innapropriate times, deal?

Whether people are coming by the bball board to snipe at the program or not, comparing Doh to Jones is silly.

agreed, they inherited completely different positions, w/different obstacles and barriers of entry. That said, I'm not really enamored w/either
