Lol.
I like how you put that individual thought in a separate post.

Hate to even reply to you but we are talking Coach Doh - not the other coaches and donors on our lovely 30/30 ESPN feature. SMU dearly paid the price but Coach Doh is the reason I respect our basketball program and all the players who played this season and several in the past.

While at Kansas, Earl said that an LSU Assistant Coach ( Maybe Johnny Jones now at North Texas or maybe not) gave him $5,000. The NCAA quickly began an investigation. LSU was placed on probation in 1998. Hey North Texas guy, I bet LSU averaged 24 wins per game and had a high RPI also. Coach Doh isn't going to schedule a game with that guy. Is it not amazing what you can do with no academic standards and paying players?

UNT has had no problems with Jones, and SMU should be the last place to say UNT does pay players, when you are one of the few schools that actually did.

Can we tap the breaks a little? UNT has a legit roster, as does SMU. Anyone claiming superiority one way or another is just being a [deleted]. Anyone claiming Jones is cheating, while putting Doh on a pedastal, doesn't know how Ray Felton ended up at UNC. Hell, Doh was a keynote speaker at the Pump Brothers weekend, after the NCAA tagged the event w/a 'never attend again' grandfather clause. Non one showed, but Doh did. Roughly two weeks later Pump N Run standout, Eric Norman commits to SMU. None of it illegal, or can even be proven, just contemporary basketball ethics. Jones at UNT can take kids that make Dexter Manley look like a mensa in good standing. That's his edge, he should use it.

Max,

Thank you for the information and clearing up this matter. You seem to be on top of the situation and are very knowledgeable about SMU Basketball.

Although you're combative, I won't single out your niece, but I will say the kiss cam and the cheerleaders are the two worst parts of any SMU game presentation. Those "smiles" are actually nervous failed smiles and the kiss cam was tired 10 years ago when the pros and real schools stopped doing it. The cheerleaders are a disgrace and couldn't be less concerned about the game that is taking place. I put equal blame on the coach, if there even is one. Note: You are entitled to your opinion. Others would disagree with you. If the cheerleaders are a disgrace, go to the A.D. and get a cheerleading coach. If you would give me your email, I will pass that on to all the cheerleaders. Do you want one to give you a lap dance to make it a better experience for you?

All of your ideas have either been tried or suggested before, I've offered up tons of my own. Gimmicks won't work for two reasons: this isn't Ames, Iowa (or Denton) where shtick attracts people because they have no other options, and don't forget we don't have a marketing department so there is no one to think up or pull off gimmicks.

Notes: Doubt if a marketing class or I-Phones have been used for texting since the I Phones have only been out for a few years. You mention that you have offered tons of your own suggestions. Don't take this personal but hey maybe like your opinion of the cheerleaders, nobody likes your suggestions and maybe you can't lead a group of people to the school cafeteria let alone have them
"buy" into your suggestions.

The Raymond Felton who is on his third NBA team so far. Yes, he did help UNC to the National Championship and won three high school state titles in South Carolina.l Loved it when he missed a layup the other night when Devnver was closing in on the Knicks. I don''t know who was worse at UNC, Raymond or his dad in terms of being selfish. Very selfish person. He is no doubt a very good basketball player or would not be where he is today. What you are saying is that Doh didn't break any NCAA rules with the Pump brothers but pushed the envelope. You might be suprised to learn that Coach K also pushes the envelope. There is a difference between that and buying players. LSU summer job programs would pay players $15,000-$20,00 in a summer years ago

There is absolutely no bigger buzz-kill and momentum-killer than that stupid kiss-cam. Nobody wants to see that crap in the midst of a heated NCAA basketball game! The basketball game and the Mustang Band are the show.

The Mustang Band is excellent! Coach Doh is great when he walks over and acknowledges them before and after each game. I appreciate their hard work and making almost all the games. The alumni band over the Christmas break is also entertaining.

One thing you can do "scout team" during the kiss cam is not look and maybe get some popcorn or text on your phone. I think it is "neat" especially to see older couples kiss still after all these years together. I will keep watching and you don't. That would be a good solution. OK!

Next time, we're on a 6-0 run and the opposing coach calls a timeout. Watch as all 1800 people totally deflate as they flash grandma and grandpa sitting down giving each other a peck. No one is engaged. They don't show students which may cause people to keep making noise. They show old people sitting down. Find something that engages fans, especially students. I'm not concerned about engaging the 150 women and you. I want the majority of fans there to stay engaged in the game. A glory days highlight reel will do more to accomplish this.

You need to send your ideas to the "marketing" people and hopefully the 6,500 people ( UALR) will stay "engaged" . We would make the students happy and hey you probably have grand-parents - make the older people feel special also. A glory days highlight reel! Never heard of that one - you have any others ideas that can help? I thought Mitch getting on Pony Fans for a solid week and "telling us" to get out to the game for Santa Clara was one of the best promotions of the year. Wonderful turnout for a CIT game if you compared with others going on across the nation. Give us your 5-10 best ideas to keep us fans "engaged". This is a good forum to share it! I guess we have talked enough about the Kiss-cam considering they only do it one time a game.
