We are the small school with the big wallets. We need to accept that.
However, it does not mean that if we can get our sports teams to be successful we can not lessen the irritating practice, rife among our student body, of supporting OTHER schools. My point is that it is not hard to find SMU students being vocal about sports, it's just hard to get them to be vocal about SMU sports. And I think the University needs to come up with schemes that basically mandate attendance. I used to give extra credit for papers discussing musical aspects of the game experience.

agreed. I wear a suit and tie more than my SMU gear and my SMU tie is almost worn out. Attendance is most important.

This is an American cultural trend, though I'm not sure why it's occurred. You'll now see Pittsburg Steeler jerseys, for instance, in Dallas schools. You'd get the crap beaten out of you when I was a kid if you wore ANY jersey other than your team's jersey. The trend irks me to no end, kind of like posters who come on this SMU fan board and fill up your screen with, oh I don't know, University of Minnesota graphics.

This. I could care less what they are wearing as long as the student body is there. I would like some programs implemented at SMU like what other schools do to encourage student attendance, etc.

This IS SMU. It was that way when you went there - and I assume you did. It was that way when I went there. It's always been that way. It'll always be that way. We'll never have that "commoner", state school appeal. We're a snotty, soft, private school. And... you're exactly right on the "wannabe aristocrats".
That's what I'm saying. I fully grasp that the school is chock full 'o'douchnozzles. That's why I don't gripe about attendance, cause its never changing. I have no expectations from them, other than to wear frat gear, if they do come. I also reserve the right to call them awful names

Ill be there.
Bringing my 3 year old so chances of me staying for the whole game are slim to none
Trey was using the powers of Gamehendge to allow the show to continue, to give the band the strength it needed to help break through this barrier
