You lobby to keep Doh and get rid of his players. I am sorry but who is Doh going to bring in? He recruited every player that is here. If they are as bad as you say they are then he needs to be fired immediately because he obviously can't evaluate talent or recruit. Either way Doh gotta go.

@lwjr's request--Per Rick Atkinson's article from CUSA-fans.com
Doherty appeared to lose his composure with Texas-transfer Shawn Williams in the first half. On a knee in front of Williams on the bench, Doherty screamed directly into his face from point-blank range for several seconds.

(Without knowing Williams’ transgression, Doherty’s tirade was tense and it was over the top, in this scribe’s humble view -- this scribe with ten years’ Marine Corps experience.)

Doherty is coaching his last days at SMU and he knows it. Lashing out at the kids isn't the way to go out. Have a little dignity.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Doh is under much stress and pressure and knows his days are short here.....I can't agree with his lashing out at Williams or any other players, but I also understand his raw emotions during this difficult time in his career.

Trying to imagine what Dement could have done with looser academic restrictions. Man I miss Dement and his cropped sideburns!!

We've been saying Doh must go for years now, and we are always given the same BS - young kids, system change, good incoming recruits. The coaching ability just is not there. He had a crummy record at FAU. He got run off at UNC. His biggest accomplishment to me was his stint at Notre Dame, but for whatever reason he just hasn't been able to recreate that success anywhere else.

Wrong again! He was National Coach of the Year voted up by his peers at NC and won 20 last year. He was 15-11 at FAU

Dude, 15-11? That's what you're bringing to the table?

And don't get me started on UNC. I live in North Carolina, and got to witness firsthand that epic fail.

I was a Doh fan when we brought him in here, and wanted nothing but to see him succeed. After 6 years, I think the verdict is in. If we keep him now, it is purely financial.

He is a great person, and has done a heck of a job with helping to raise funds. But the record speaks for itself.

This is 2012... not 2003. What have you done for us lately?

The point is he hasn't run a winning program here at SMU. Brickle can only make one point. His unwavering support of Doh. It's tiring and predictable. Yawn.

Doh has talented players, but whether he's lost them, or whether he can't coach, or whether he's running the wrong system for his talent, who knows. All we know is that they aren't winning and that falls square at the feet of the head coach. His record here for the past six years in CUSA tells you what to expect from here on out. Will he get lucky again at some point in his career and have a great winning season, probably? But the body of work shows long term that he cannot win on a sustained basis and entering the Big East that is what will be required. In six years here, he hasn't pulled even a VCU/George Mason kind of team (an upperclassman team that grew together) which made a run in the Dance. I like him and wish he had succeeded here. But he hasn't.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Bricker--It is not a wise thing to bash and criticize Ira Terrell. Ira has been a positive influence and supporter of the SMU basketball team for a long time. I know Ira personally, and he is an upstanding, positive, glass is half full guy and he deserves your respect. You need to understand this clearly.

Since Doh has been @ SMU, the best his teams have finished in an avg. CUSA is 7th, that includes last season. His record speaks for itself. This is no personal attack on Doh. The coaching game is all about
wins & loses, and when you are as far below .500 as Doh is, you gotta go.

The title of the thread is correct. SMU needs to make some noise with this hire.
