All the guys that go to all the games win or lose will not miss you nor will the players. How many games have you actually been to this season? Have season tickets?

I've had 4 season tickets since I graduated years ago and rarely miss a game, if I do it's work related. I used to bring my wife and different people each time to try to help spark a following. I am having a REALLY hard time finding anyone who wants to go. My wife, an SMU alum as well, doesn't even care to go anymore because of how bad we are. When I ask friends, mostly SMU alums, if they would like to go they laugh at talk about how terrible we are. SMU basketball has become a F__king JOKE!

You will miss me since I was 1 of the 50 people that actually go to games!

And you're right, the players won't care because they have already given up. With the exception of maybe 2-3 of them they don't even want to be at the game!

You my friend are part of the problem. You can't just sit around and be blindly loyal thereby accepting and promoting this pathetic new level of losing. I believe we have some talent on this team, but it is time for a new coach to take over and get them performing to the level that they are capable.

...looking forward to football season!!!

So if you want to blame the uninspired performance on the fan turnout, that comes back to Doh too. Sometimes you let a guy finish and sometimes you don't. This is a time you end it now, and let the players loosen up. It will also allow the fans to get behind the players in a bigger way without confusing the issue with supporting the continuation of the coach. At this point, when the Doh situation is a foregone conclusion, you have to think about the best support for the players and I think that is to let Doh go now and finish this season with a little fun for the young players as well as the seniors who don't deserve the distraction any longer. I can tell you i have no interest in watching the team continue to go through the Doh motions.

That's just wrong b/c despite the players not liking the system/Doh right now, they don't hate the individual. As long as he's gone, no worries, but do it w/dignity. Also, firing him now gives the '12 kids to long to sit w/o real answers. You have to protect that class, cause it has 3 kids w/high major offers, and a national top 100 big. This isn't life or death, the season is over. Let them play it out, pat Doh on the back, fire his [deleted], and get someone in here the next day. No reason to make this more bitter than it needs to be, b/c we want to see the kids play loose for 5 games. Just tell the frosh they'll have new blood in here for sure, and that their concerns will be taken care of.

When you behave like a [deleted], it always comes back to bite you in the .ss. There is no reason to treat Doherty like a jerk. He did his best and failed. Now it is time to move on and you do that by easing him out with class.

Personally, I would love to see him retire to a fundraising position in the athletic department.

I am not your friend and never will be. So called fair weather "fans" like you make me sick at my stomach. Going to games has nothing to do with whether you accept the state of any particular athletic program. It is about loyalty to your school and showing support for the student athlete's who play the game. Just go away.

There is a big difference between a fair weather fan and someone who wont watch this bball garbage. Anyone who went to a single game this year is not fair weather!

It was clear to anyone who attended the Big East celebration that Doh is a goner. The Commissioner of the biggest BBall conference in the country didn't call him out by name and the room was cordial but not enthusiastic towards him. He looked like he was putting on a good face but just through the motions. I have never met Doh, but people I trust tell me that he is a good guy but that he probably should be coaching pros instead of college. I don't know about that, but I feel certain that we have a decent hire already waiting in the wings for this season to end. Can't come quickly enough.

That's complete garbage. You're either a fan/supporter of the program or your not. Doesn't matter if it's good times or bad, ugly ball or pretty

agreed. I remember sitting through back to back seasons where we went something like 6-22 and 7-21, losing games to the likes of Rollins (Florida) College at Moody. Regardless of the results, these guys are still OUR guys so kudos to those who are not only buying tickets, but actually coming out to watch the games.

we really need to salvage the 1500. They are slipping away

That's just mean bro, I consider every fan of SMU a friend including you. People like you are the problem and I feel sorry for how narrow minded and willing to accept failure you are. Wanting to compare ticket stubs, donation dollars, games attended, press conferences attended, etc is completely asinine and I have absolutely no need to defend my level of fandom to the close minded likes of you. If it will make you feel better I'll swing by a trophy store and pick you up a "worlds only and greatest SMU fan" award!

Fans have the power to change the course of their given programs if they have the desire to do so. Sitting idly by criticizing others for demanding better is the absolute best way to guarantee that the status quo is maintained.

We're all demanding better, but doing so in a constructive way, not refusing to attend. You sir are the problem, not those of us who demand better, but support no matter what

I am trying to find a place to buy in retirement in the Dallas area so I can go to the games and there are people purposely not going. I wish I could be there even for this mess because I have faith it will return to a high level and Moody will be full again.

It's a difficult line because this isn't a professional organization- where paper bags and ticket boycotts are certainly reasonable to show a billionaire owner and 55 multimillionaire players that they're awful and need to refocus. But, Doherty isn't ours, SO isn't ours, but the kids & the program do belong to us. Despite the decided failures of the HC, I personally can't vent by ignoring. There are 80,000 other alumni already doing that. I'll be one of the 5K alumni that supports, and [deleted] loudly.

Based you your recent comments in the Marshall game thread you believe the team has given up. So you want us to blindly support quitters?

I support as well. It just so happens that my support will remain in financial form only for the remainder of Doh's time at SMU.... unless he turns it around, b/c as we all know: WINNING CURES EVERYTHING! :D
