Why? This is what I have been advocating for awhile now, but it is doubtful Doh takes it. What is in it for him?
Seriously, there is no way Doherty would lower himself to this - and if Orsini tried to force him to no self-respecting coach would ever take an offer from Orsini again - in any sport.

But UTEP has also beaten Memphis and Southern Miss (and Auburn and Clemson)...they are a bit of a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde team

It is not that UTEP is really bad it is more that we are really young. There is some real talent here. But we have hit a wall in the last couple of games.
Congratulations to Matt Doherty for leading us to 11th place in the all powerful CUSA conference. We towered over Tulane (in last place.) We sunk to depths no one could ever imagine under your "leadership." Thanks for leaving us in such a wonderful position as we enter the Big East.

Actually, we sunk to these depths under Tubbs. Doherty just proved completely incapable of resurfacing the submarine.
'At's right. Blame the dead guy. I'd take Tubbs over Doherty any day.
I would say the same if he were still alive (and did while he was still alive). The simple fact is that we finished in the 260s in the RPI in his 2nd season (the lowest we had ever finished to that point) and we will finish in the 210s this year. What explains the difference? Better competition this year.
Why are some of you guys being so sophomoric about Doh at this point in his journey? He will be asked to move on, we will hire a solid replacement, and the newest chapter in SMU hoops will begin...give the guy a break.

I cannot believe I am saying this, but that's quite a sensible post.
