I honestly don't get it. The guy isn't that much younger than Larry Brown and has serious health issues. If SMU is going this route, it might as well go with Brown.

We can all make the easy fat jokes, but this man can flat out (I said "flat" out) coach. He may not look as pretty as Doherty on the sideline, but I bet he can rebuild this program.

as long as he doesn't quit in five days like he did at USC. The only thing worse than the current debacle would be if we hired a coach and had him bolt on us. Therefore, I have no interest in Majerus.

He did that to be closer to mom, who had cancer. Mom died in August.

I'd be surprised if we got him. Yes we can offer money BUT he had a great team this year and has a great team coming back. I think he only lost one important player this year.

While everyone wants more money, I think he knows if he stays at SLU he finishes his career on top, if he comes to SMU it will be a struggle, and his W/L record will take a hit.

If we are lucky, he wants to do one more rebuild before retiring. If not, hire Sutton and lets roll.

Apparently, RM is only paid 750k and he had to use some of his own money to pay assists and even some travel. No jet access. Doesn't get along with his boss. In his last year of his contract and AD hasn't offered an extension yet. Said he took the SLU job to be close to his mom, who is no longer alive.

But he has a really good team coming back, a really great recruit signed and might just be using us to negotiate his extension. We shall see.
