SAE: Get a clueModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: SAE: Get a clueI wish all fraternity jerseys were red and blue with their respective letters.
And for whoever was smashing on people wearing dress clothes to the games here is my response: When game time is at 6:00 on a weeknight that means I have to leave directly from work at 5:30 (early I might add) - Pardon my button down and slacks.
Re: SAE: Get a clueCompromise - put something red & blur on with/over/around the jersey. Problem solved.
And when I come to the 6:00 game from the office I will always have a red and blue tie! "I think Couchem is right."

Re: SAE: Get a clueIt's so blatantly obvious who the GDIs are in this thread. Get over it. I wasn't there, but by all accounts the SAEs were great. I've never liked those [deleted] ever since I was a freshmen and they roofied two of my friends that were girls in the same night, and I've given one or two of them a black eye, but getting on them for wearing jerseys is moronic. Those people wearing the jerseys are pledges (almost guaranteed) and they are told they have to wear them.
Be happy they showed up and showed spirit, complaining about them repping their fraternity is ridiculous BOP - Providing insensitivity training for a politically correct world since 1989.
Re: SAE: Get a clueIs IFC getting frats to sign up and commit to individual games? There were tons of lost looking Phi Delts at the beginning of the USF but nary a SAE jersey...Today, a ton of SAEs, a few Phi Delts but not nearly as many as USF. If this is going on, it's lame bullshite. SMU games should not be about advertising your frat, especially when you forget about the games afterward. "Be happy they showed up"...bah. They aren't retarde-d puppies...it's their flipping team and classmates, they should show...automatically...especially now that there is alcohol and games are fun as hell!
Just make red or blue polos with your letters embroidered; it just looks so much better.
Re: SAE: Get a clue
For my fraternity, making the pledges go to the game in jerseys is a tradition. I have no problem with it. Do unto others before they do unto you!!
Re: SAE: Get a clueI agree with Berger (for once). It looked very small time on tv. I've been to plenty of a Duke and UNC games and have never seen pledges in anything but school colors.
Don't get me wrong I appreciate the enthusiasm and attendance. But it is so self-serving and stupid to be wearing those jerseys. Once upon a time I was a pledge and probably did the same thing. But looking back, I must have looked as douche-tastic as those kids looked last night. Wear your school colors. Period. Make jerseys for the game in red or blue. Everybody wins.
Re: SAE: Get a clue
Be honest. That's a stupid tradition. And I'm saying that as someone that had to wear a jersey to games when I was a pledge. Like I said earlier- get a red or blue one made for athletic events. Win-win.
Re: SAE: Get a clueFor years we went through having Moody filled with that impressive attendance of 1500. Now the students are showing up, and we are complaining about attire. We all need to get a grip. One step at a time. Get the students in and then work next season on jerseys. Did we not learn anything from that letter from the FB walk-on slamming the students? Look what happened to attitude after that. Yes, red/blue jerseys would be great, but I would hate to be the clothing police.
It makes sense to me.
Re: SAE: Get a clueYou go to a game to support your school and team, not your frat.
Re: SAE: Get a clue
If a national poll was done and the topic was to list all the school traditions you could, do you honestly think "wearing fraternity jerseys" would rank right up there with "school colors"? All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: SAE: Get a clueI agree. Those loud kids all over TV were a total embarrassment. I would rather the traditional 15 students in SMU colors than a student section filled with kids in fraternity colors.
Students shouldn't show up unless they are wearing school colors. If they can't show up in school colors, just don't come to the game. Lord knows all the alums that can't get a ticket would love to fill those seats. Better yet, we should throw them out of Moody if they show up in anything other than school colors. The last thing we need playing a minor league team on Sunday evening is for students to show up without school colors. It would be better for the team and the TV appearances if the student section was totally empty vs. loud enthusiastic kids in fraternity colors. Students should never be allowed to express themselves except in a manner acceptable to alums.
Re: SAE: Get a clue
Well, I do certainly favor the wearing of Harvard crimson and Yale blue - it's just that accosting students at b-ball games for their attire just isn't really my thing ![]()
Re: SAE: Get a clue
So glad you agree! I'm not sure the measure would have carried without you. ![]() I think we can all agree that we were glad they were at the game. Pony up!
Re: SAE: Get a clueWearing frat gear anywhere blows. Sae's embarrassed themselves on national tv.
Re: SAE: Get a clueAt least this subject gives Ponyte something different to chastise me about rather than having to listen to that pitch story on our trip down for Memphis.
