Brother, I speak the truth. Check my post history, much like four years ago when I said June Jones is a lazy coach, outdated offense, no interest in recruiting. They wanted to burn me at the stake back then. But now, my opinions four years ago are the gospel of SMU posters now.

Believe me, SMU took major steps this year, almost a Big Dance team, but not quite. I will cheer loudly wherever we go, I just don't think we deserve a bid

Well I called the statement ridiculous, not you, but based on the overreaction maybe I should have...and the fact that you have been an SMU fan since birth makes me believe you don't know what a tournament team looks like, growing up in a UCLA family with season tickets I've seen many tournament teams, and this is one.

Are we playing well right now, no. The loss today was absolute garbage, and we are clearly a little off our game at the most important part of the season, but this is still a quality team, and given the right matchup, could still pick up a win in the tournament. You are crazy if you believe otherwise.

I don't get the sky is falling in posters. Two of the three losses they should have lost on paper. They choked one in the conference tourney that they led most of the game, big deal. Nobody goes to the Sweet 16 just because they won their conference tourney. Michigan didn't even get a bye last year in the B10 tourney, beat an awful Penn State team, then got ripped by Wisconsin (score is closer than what it was). Went out in the B10 quarters, lost 2/3 heading into the NCAA tourney and 3 of the last 6. Guess they should've packed it in too by your logic?

Cuse lost 4 of their last 5 heading into the conference tourney, then went to the Final Four. I really don't understand the sky is falling logic especially when they were supposed to lose two of the three that they did. Not to mention they had blown out Memphis, put that game on a neutral floor and it either team could win but you're not questioning Memphis' validity. And they beat Houston twice already. Markus got hurt, Moore couldn't throw it into the Atlantic if he was living in the Bahamas. Not making excuses, but the team played awful and still had a chance to win.

I'm not ready to mail it in on the Ponies, the season doesn't even start til next week. Everyone is 0-0 and what happened prior doesn't matter. And yes, it would absolutely 100% kill recruiting momentum by going to the NIT that was gained this year. Kid's don't want to play for a team that's not playing in the NCAA tourney, no different than professional soccer players not wanting to sign with teams that aren't in the Champions League.

And yeah, what Oliver said above. It's a tournament quality team regardless of how bad they played today. I also think SMU will be debated in the room about whether they should be in or not, for all of 2 seconds.

You guys are going to be fine, and especially since the bubble teams are dropping like flies today. Arkansas (who had a head-to-head win) drops to South Carolina, Georgetown loses to DePaul last night, BYU's best player tore his ACL and they lost to Zaga, Seton Hall taking down Nova prevents Providence from getting another quality win, and the mid-majors like Green Bay, Southern Miss, etc all have bad at-large profiles. SMU is in for sure.

I hope you guys beat Louisville in the final, assuming it plays out that way. Keep the championship in the AAC.

I'm not questioning your fandom but this is an insane and very uneducated post. We are a tournament team. If you make the tourney you should be one of the 64 best teams in the country. We are one of the 30-35 best teams in the country. If you disagree, you don't watch much college bball.

btw , anyone who would choose the NIT over an NCAA spot has no clue, win or lose

If there is any question whether or not we belong, turn on ESPNU and watch the 2 teams playing. They are definitely tournament worthy and we have 3 wins out of 4 games against them, all by reasonably comfortable margins.
