Re: Concerning Yanick Moreira Tweet
I think it is pretty certain that if (and obviously huge if) we get Turner Yanick will try his best to get out.

Long live Inez Perez!
Re: Concerning Yanick Moreira TweetThe BIG question here is why isn't Larry addressing it directly. Every time he is asked why Yanick isn't getting minutes he just shrugs and says "Boy what a shame".
Why does Larry refuse to answer the question? Can anyone shed some light on this?

I would be satisfied with just a "None of the public's business - it's personal reasons"
Re: Concerning Yanick Moreira TweetOur problems last night in the first half were not being aggressive and physical enough. We needed to by physical and force them to foul us. We backed out of that in the first half.
MK was one of those who struggled. He was either trying to go around the big guy, or taking spot shots outside of his range, where he missed. CC was essential to the game in the second half because he can hit that mid-range jumper at the elbow, which we called consistently in the second half. Been Moore was also essential, because brings great energy, fights for everything, in the past has been able to hit that same elbow jumper, and he also passes the ball well and quickly, which is important against the zone. Those two should not have seen a minute of their playing time drop. Shawn spent a lot of the game on the bench because he was not being physical enough. SO no minutes to take away there. So the minutes, you would take away for YM are MK's. Seriously? Yeah, he struggled in the first half, but in the second he followed Larry's advice and was being physically aggressive down low. That completely changed the game. His dunk changed the game. His attempted dunk over the big guy where he got foulded absolutely had a massiv eimpact ont he game. It changed the attitude of the entire team and that big guy was almost invisible after that. It made him human. YM would not have made that impact in the second half. I like the player, but sometimes you have to play the folks in the rotation who can help. We needed to open up spacing on the floor, so you can't just play two guys who want to hang down low on the post. That is why the MK SW pairing was awful last night. MK - YM wouldn't have been much better. LB saw what was happening, and made a game time adjustment for it.
Re: Concerning Yanick Moreira Tweetwe already have 2 scholarships we are having a bit of a problem filling for this recruiting class-why the hell we would we be trying to run Moreria off to make room for Turner. That ain't it. And by the end of next year Moreria will have graduated so we aren't trying to run him off for next year's recruiting class either

Re: Concerning Yanick Moreira Tweet
I think that is a very accurate assessment. Two things working against Yanick here were the above coupled with the fact that he hasn't had much chance to re-prove himself since the injury. Unfortunate but true. Might this all have been handled differently? Perhaps. But hindsight is 20/20. I think we will see very little of him in our remaining games….especially after a reaction like last nights. I think he can really help the team but at this point the Pony is out of the Coluseum for this year. I'd hate to see him leave. Party at The Wopper!
Re: Concerning Yanick Moreira Tweet
I'm NO expert on these matters, but I feel that Yanick is the ONE guy who gives us an advantage (many teams don't have centers in today's college game) and our front court is our strength (along with Nic Moore) so we should really be ponying up there --- we won't "out athlete" most teams and we won't out run many either (although our defense created a lot of that last night). He just seems to me that we need him to get some minutes to get into the offensive flow and get his mojo back. Maybe LB just doesn't want to risk more injury and have him come back strong next year after a solid off season of rehab and strengthening. Who knows, but I would REALLY like the media (including PP) to press LB on this a little bit more.
Re: Concerning Yanick Moreira TweetI read somewhere that YM was going to be primarily responsible for the 7'6 guy...very strange not to see him out there...
Re: Concerning Yanick Moreira Tweet
I haven´t been able to watch every game, but I saw Yanick play less than 1 minute in only one game since his injury. Has he played more than that? If so, I missed it.
Re: Concerning Yanick Moreira TweetVery weak nobody asked him about it in postgame. reporters are scared?
Re: Concerning Yanick Moreira Tweethe played about 15 min at Memphis, 5 rebs, 2 TO's, 2-6 shooting (including some bizarro long range jumpers). he also played 8 min against UH in the tourney, going 0-2 shooting with 0 rebs.
Re: Concerning Yanick Moreira TweetI missed these games (w/ exception of Cinn and reg season game against Houston) so that answers that...
