Lol yeah because its easy to win on the road in the pac 12 when you play at oregon, Arizona, and colorado, and against your bitter rival stanford. Plus they went to omaha to play Creighton I said in California. You named 1 team in Cali

Annnd Stanford averaged less than us in attendance further backing my point that the state of California is as fair weather as it gets with athletics. Besides Miami.

Umm, you are in Dallas calling other fans fair weather? It was 2 years ago that I was watching SMU basketball with 500 other people at conference home games. Enjoy the bandwagon while we can but Dallas is not in a position to call out other city's fans.

I was there too, and it was more like 2 - 4 thousand fans depending on the opponent :!:

Can someone comment on Cal's 3-2 zone?

"He hasn't passed any of the tests. There's no way," head coach Mike Montgomery said. "The protocol is such that you have to pass the first test to get to the second test. We're not even past the first test."

The coach should just lock him in a dark closet. It works for tech football players.

Glad you are back my little pony.

So funny that some say SMU cannot talk trash on a GD fan board. My gosh I would hate to offend some Cal jack wagon because we sucked two years ago.

Enjoy the ride for Pete's sake. We have been waiting a quarter century to talk trash. Live it up Mustang fans.

OK I'm sorry I have to bite as well, given that you boast an avatar/logo of one of the bigger bandwagon movements I've ever seen in my life, I'm quite surprised by your statement. The Dodgers regularly lead the MLB in attendance despite playing in a WS since '88. The Lakers will almost always sell-out, and although UCLA's own alumni have turned it's program and Dan Guerrero this year, I've seen Pauley louder many times still than any game in New Moody. The Coliseum is a majestic palace for college football that their fans pack regularly as, and now the Kings sellout every game as well.

We're all Mustangs so I don't mean to pick, but generalizations about LA sports fans are so recycled and uninformed. Why do fan's show up late? Traffic! Why isn't Staples Center as loud as other arenas? The seats are too expensive for real fans, and taken over by hollywood.

GS warriors fans are generally considered the best fans in the nba. The warriors were selling out games when the warriors were awful. The waiting list to even buy a season ticket is up to 3000.

Sf giants have longest home sellout streak in mlb.

Sj sharks have sold out about 140 straight.

And I'll give you $1000 if you go down to the black hole at a raiders game holding a sign saying that raiders fans are fair weather.

So please, continue with your story about fair weather "Cali" fans.

The average SMU fan is a "fair weather" fan, but the average <insert any team here> fan is a "fair weather" fan. Everyone loves a winner. The teams that manage to attract a full house even when they're not performing well are pretty special and most people know who they are. SMU isn't there and it may never be. We can hope.

Don't think it's always a bad thing though. The perks of being in a city like Dallas (exposure, recruiting and local talent, attractive lifestyle for student athletes, the weather, girls, parties etc) come with a fan base that expects winning and a first class game-day experience.

We truly saw that happen with basketball this year. A lot of things will have to happen for us to deliver that in football (although we certainly figured out tailgating). Probably will never happen in this conference, and while that's a little bleak, it's palatable as long as we keep building this brand for basketball and improving our results on the court.

Tuesday night was the first time they had played 3-2 zone, and it was due to the absence of their 6-10 center who was out with a concussion.

If they play the 3-2, Larry should be KF and Ben in (to spread the floor & operate in the high post).

A-ha! Thanks.

Are they normally a man to man or was that an adjustment from another zone?

If we can spread 'em nicely our interior passing and decent baseline play ought to get it done.

The way to beat a zone is to overload a side and drain 3's. If you can't hit outside shots, a zone is difficult to break. If they are a high press type zone, some plays open up down low and in the paint. If they are a low zone, then plays open up 15-20 feet out and at the top of the free throw circle. You just need to make those shots to move them out and open up the 10 footers.

Not likely LB will build his game plan around shooting over the zone but I agree with attempting to spread it as much as possible. This calls for high/low stuff and we are good at it. Interior passing and lots of back door. And it's their bug inside guy they are missing? Bring it.
