I have been a little confused with the band song selection lately, when they are allowed to play. It is frustrating when SMU gets the momentum going, the opposing team calls a timeout and the band plays some bizarre song. Play Peruna to keep the crowd pumped.
Of course the band use to be allowed to play while the game was going on. NCAA put an end to that.

Gotta agree the band doesn't pump up the crowd at all. Irregardless of the band being a dedicated organization through all the sucky years, they kill any crowd momentum during time outs. I watch the students sit down and check their phones when the band plays, then when music comes over the PA they all get up and cheer and dance.

Bring back Coming Home as it MADE Moody special last year before the game started.

As for the MBand, it's all about timing and song selection. Learn a few of the standards the students are used to hearing and dancing to, and play Peruna only leading back into play from the timeouts. The drum bit for football games translates poorly to basketball.

As for the Dance Cam, why can the cameras only find toddlers and girls that do the tired act of "oh-my-God-I can't-believe-I'm-on-the-screen-so-I'm-gonna-put-my-hand-over-my-mouth-and-looked-surprised-and-embarrased"? At least some of the toddlers can bust a move.

Totally unacceptable. We are trying to build a program, got a lot of traction the last year or two, and because someone in a position of authority doesn't really want/care to step up and address issues, we face the june jones situation of just "doing what we do". So what if it's a step back. So what if the fans don't like it.

We can do better than coming home. Shouldn't be that hard...here is a very basic model I think is pretty effective, and would love to see.

1. Dramatic music and video montage of highlights, big plays, moments etc.

2. Player comes on screen (Paul Pierce) and encourages fans to get loud

3. Rap beat kicks in and players get introduced (notice players at the end jumping around getting hyped) this video should be about bringing energy for the fans and players lets gooooo

The dance cam should never show anything but coeds.

I complained here a lot last week about the overall game presentation. Friday was better. Arena music selection was better and it was played, for the most part, at the right time.

The band isn't cutting it. Let them do the drum deal with students yelling towards the end of the game and halftime but that should be it. NO band during timeout EVER! It sounds weak and quiet, not to mention it sucks the energy right out of Moody. And please get the production timing right, the pauses are giving my flashbacks. Last year it was chills.

SID go talk to Larry or read what he said about fans and their promptness in games and the effect the energy has on our success. The crowd helped jump start the victory in the 2nd half. Go back to last years amazing intro and ditch the boring one from this year. Or combine them. Do something to get it going earlier!

Your customers have been voicing this since the beginning of the season.

Friday was a tad bit better, but nothing like last year.

I think they are intentionally sabotaging the atmosphere this season to get more people to think the cost isn't worth it so they don't renew their season tickets allowing more of the people who missed out to get in then they will restore the environment next season.

Ha! Sadly I would prefer this situation. Much better knowing that they didn't purposely screw up an amazing formula that was well received.

Bless their hearts. I don't think they intentionally try to screw things up. They just don't know any better. Don't know what rings true with the fandom. Don't really care. Out of touch. It's done and that's that. Plus, they know better than we do what is needed. Trust us lost sheep, we know what is needed and boom, have another dose (que Lawrence Welk).

To do it soooo right last year and to screw it up so badly this year boggles the mind. Can they not just run the tape from any of the conference games last year to see how to balance the piped music versus the band????? The over reliance on the band this year has just turned into a huge buzz kill...........

Oh, and how about using some current year footage???????
