the problem is that you could write this about all 3 bigs after some games this year but all 3 bigs lack consistency. You don't know if you are getting 14 points or 1 point from Cunningham or 21 points or 2 points from Kennedy.-same with Moreria

Inconsistency not limited to the bigs - but, that the way SMU basketball go - Pony up.

Sterling was off tonight but he is a good shooter.

Hard to argue, but I could verify this fact if we saw it a little more.

ECM - you are right about Manuel & Cunningham being high school seniors in 2010-2011 season.
My bad for assuming they played in the CIT; however, Larry Brown didn't come to SMU
until the 2012-2013 season.

The 2010-2011 team that played in the CIT had Papa Di, Nyakundi, Mangrum, Giles,
Sammarippas, and Patsovich.

When did I say Larry came to SMU before 2012?

Almost all players for all teams have up games and down games depending on the oppositions strengths or weaknesses. That's why you want a deep team with lots of options, which is what we have. We were designed by Larry to compete for the national championship with the addition of Mudiay . That makes the rest of this team pretty dang good, and about a point guard plus shooter (mudiay/Keith) away from elite.

I was talking to someone about this after the Cincy game. If the stars had aligned and we were rolling out the current team plus Jalen Jones, Mudiay, and Keith? I know, I know, if "ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts... but that would have been a monster of a team.

ECM - you are right on all counts. Either I misread your post or I was drunk at the time.
Sorry for doubting your historical sense of reality.

Right on the money!

While some this summer and fall were worrying about dishing out minutes because of depth I was loving the insurance policy against injury (and, as it turns out, ineligibility and Chinese vacations.)

We've lost three potential starters since fall and still we have a pretty solid 7-8 man rotation.

We can clearly see the benefit of having four solid bigs to occupy the 4-5 spots…We need at least one more for next season.
Given LB's desire for length, speed and athleticism we should have the 3 covered fairly easily…Sterling has two years to go after this and maybe Emelogou shows up…preferably next week but at least next season.

Looks like the 1-2 is covered for awhile.

Let's not worry about minutes next fall!!
