The NCAA rule is written to apply to all players who transfer from any school on probation when the player will lose his last chance for post season eligibility. The rule isn't baiting or targeting SMU or Larry Brown in any way. Plus the number of coaching probations/sanctions of Head Coaches/Assistants has quickly shot above 100 since implementation. Its automatic once sanctions include a post season ban. Paranoia will destroy ya

We will not get our scholarships back (barring the results of an appeal) as the scholarship penalty starts next year and the two scholarship credit is based on the school's self-imposed two scholarship penalty this year, not scholarships that go unused this year.

Yeah, I pretty much figured that, but maybe if we lose Nic and Kennedy, maybe NCAA takes that into consideration as a mitigating factor and gives us somewhat a break on the scholarships. I know, I know, not counting on it...
I will still root the guys on, wherever they choose to play.

13 scholies total per year. NOT GOOD replacing more than half per year with walk ons for 3
years:!:

This is the ruling that could lead us to filing selective enforcement lawsuits if UNC. Louisville,
etc. are swept under the bumpy ncaa rug :!:
May the forth be with us.

I guess the "paranoia" comment is directed to me?? If so...I'd like to clarify...I don't think NCAA is baiting us any more than any other team/player/coach. What I do think is they like to put hidden "gems" in their sanctions. Heck...David Berst is quoted admitting such.

As for us? I do think they have a hoped for end result. Maybe it's for Larry to be fired or to quit. Maybe it's for our guys to transfer. Maybe it's just to derail us a bit. But I do believe there is something sneaky in their sanctions.

Stallion...certainly you don't trust the NCAA's pure intentions do you?

Plano I think you have it wrong. It's 7 over three years starting next yr, not counting reductions. Not that big an issue.

Obviously sanctions are meant to derail or slow a team down...

Color me paranoid, but, if I'm from a conference with a team with a legitimate shot at the Final Four, I'd love to see Russell and Kennedy as free agents who might join a team from my conference. You have AAC, ACC, SEC, Big XII, Big East reps on the Committee of Infractions. Then you whisper to SMU, don't appeal the post-season ban, and we'll see that the Appeals Committee fixes the Scholarship limits. The problem is one of working them into your team and not blowing the chemistry on those teams and of course them going to a program in another conference. So, the next few weeks will be interesting.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

People forget about injuries. Someone's point guard goes down and suddenly chemistry is not such a big issue.

I disagree...

Seems many times sanctions are just for show...many other times they are a warning...sometimes it's to derail you.

I guess my question is: If we can only have 13 kids on scholarship at any one time, how many do we normally give out per year in BB?

we'll have 8 coming back in 2016-2017 assuming everybody returns and NCAA doesn't change sanctions

so likely 2 giving us 10 on roster in 2nd year of sanctions

I'm not sure how SMU will do this-I've guessed-11/10/10/12

but they could go 11/11/10/11

which would give us 3 next year
