You should tweet or email him those facts. Gosselin always thinks he's the smartest guy in the room. It's fun to call him out.

The Michigan football game and bball home and home have nothing to do with each other and were booked years apart.

I like the thought of having a tourney but as I suggested awhile back, I'd rather it be a battle for Texas instead of DFW. Possible issues - I'm not sure if schools from the same conference will enter the same tourney and I want to play TCU every year regardless. If we are in the tournament there's a chance we miss each other.
Have a Dallas bracket and a Houston bracket. Have the winner of each side meet in the championship.
Dallas: SMU TCU UTA UNT Baylor Texas Tech UTEP UTD
Houston: UH A&M Rice SFA UT UTSA Texas St Sam Houston
I love your expanded idea, but I'd just stick to a SWC tourney. Would LOVE to see SMU TCU Texas A&M Houston Rice Baylor Tech Perfect eight team format. Move it around Texas - Dallas, Houston, Austin, etc.

That makes no sense to me. We have been good at basketball for three years. If SMU has a rival it is TCU, I don't care what sport you're talking about.
Exactly! Anyone who disagrees is not truly an SMU fan.

I would think we could land home and homes with BYU, Gonzaga, Wichita State, VCU, Dayton, Saint Joseph's, Harvard, Yale, San Diego State, New Mexico, UNLV, Arkansas, UT Arlington.

No thanks to Gosselins brain fart, and the reason we had such a huge SMU turnout in Ft Worth this year is RIVALRY! We would be fools to stop the series in any sport.

Sounded like a great idea until I read the other teams - TCU ok but UTA and NTSU no way. Remember the TCU game at the AAC with TCU and then Baylor played somebody. That is more like it. Bring in Ark or Texas or A and M then you might have something.

Several things:
1) this board is mostly inhabited by alums and middle aged ones at that. Many of us hate TCU for real reasons. That said, neither team has been in the same conference since WAC 16, RIP. There are now 15 years of grads, at least, that have mostly seen not competitive SMU/TCU match-ups , where hype is more school/media manufactured, than folks truly care. If they were to drop us in football, I'm sure we can find another juggernaut to clean our clock yearly, for the right to make a recruiting weekend out of DFW.
2) we'll never get home and homes as long as we're filthy on e court and serve beer off it, lol. The only way to make that happen is to grab high mids, big east etc, focus on schools that recruit DFW like Creighton. Beyond that, become a road warrior like Tark did. Play anyone w/a name, anywhere they'll sign on. Just be effin better and smack them. That's how you get to be all time great like the 90s Rebs, specifically out of smaller conferences.

I disagree and I am an SMU fan. I just side with Hoopmanx on this one.

90's Rebs did it that way for sure.

We could replace TCU with another quote juggernaut, but it wouldn't be a sellout. TCU is STILL a rivalry whether you believe it or not.

I honestly thought it was simply because we had no name-brand credibility. Even if we're good, if P-5 School X comes down to Moody and gets pasted, they'll take all sorts of flack for it as a "bad loss" to a "G-5 school," despite the fact that, you know, we're actually really good. Thought that would "wear off" to an extent as this thing keeps rolling downhill. For example, if, say, Texas (I know it won't happen), comes to Moody next year, they'd be playing a legitimate Top 20 program in a first-class facility coming off three straight 25+ win seasons in front of a full house in a decent hoops conference with high-major talent up and down the roster.

Did Michigan take flack for it being a "bad loss?"

Also, TCU needs to man up and come to Moody for once

Mr Gosselin also said we would be crazy to fire June so there's that
Mr Gosselin also argued to me that SMU's recruiting problems were not June's fault.
