Tom Wilson transferringModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: Tom Wilson transferringDon't be dumb. We aren't forcing out a senior who plays hard. We are fine next year assuming Semi stays - which I think he will since he needs another year.
Wilfong gives us much more on the floor than Tom did. Sorry but anyone who watched them both on the floor at the same time can see that. I would guess there are some decent frat guys that could walk on and add more than Tom. The disappointing thing is that our staff went down there two or three times and saw something they thought would work. That worries me. I think both of these guys failed the eyeball test.
Re: Tom Wilson transferringIf we sign 2 and no other attrition that means we have no spots for next years class.
Re: Tom Wilson transferringIf we sign two with no attrition, we will be able to sign two the following year because we get two scholarships back.
Re: Tom Wilson transferringI would take Wilafong over Wilson any day. When Wilson came in the play was dragged down. Not so much with Wilafong.
Long live Inez Perez!
Re: Tom Wilson transferring
Nope. We need to give 4 over the next 2 years. If we sign 2 more for next year we will have 12. That means we will give 1 of the 4. We would graduate 2 plus the one empty spot giving the other 3 the following year. If (its a big if) we sign 2 more and no early attrition happens we would have no spots in next years class
Re: Tom Wilson transferring
Yeah that sounds right. I think the staff wants two more guys to fill out the roster and will worry about numbers later. Could always get a grad transfer Big, would be surprised if we signed another freshman big.
Re: Tom Wilson transferringThat's why it will be a JUCO or a transfer big. So the scholy rolls off. And I would guess only one. We just need a big to go with our freshman big(ish)
Re: Tom Wilson transferring
I hope they tell him to stop chucking 3's. He shouldn't shoot outside midrange.
Re: Tom Wilson transferringDoes this really surprise anyone...and is anyone the least bit disappointed by his decision? Wilson & Froling came here to learn from Larry Brown and both have professional aspirations, but once they realized no LB and limited PT, they decided to move on. I personally like having the extra 'ships and think we have a solid 7 players right now to take us through this season. If this team can avoid injuries or serious fould trouble, they will be very competitive and all this means is that Gu & McDowell might see a couple more minutes to cover for starters who pick up early fouls.
Re: Tom Wilson transferringCan we add Justin Lawler from the football team. He can certainly clog up the middle, get 4-5 hard fouls and give us 7-10 minutes a game. Teach him to take a charge and we'll be good.
Re: Tom Wilson transferring
Wilson wasn't going to give us any contribution until his Junior year, so not much of a loss other than another body for injury or foul trouble. We lost two projects to transfer. Obviously both had skill, but both needed a lot of work to get to where they needed to be. Wish them the best. At the end I think this will be best for both sides.
Re: Tom Wilson transferringHonestly, bc of this, I feel great about our roster moving forward. The one kid I wasn't sure about in '17, Landrum, has me converted. As I was told, Our version of Nate Robinson. Punishing athlete at 5'10.
We feel good about Semi and Shake back, so any additions have to fill a need and be able to go. After watching Tom ,Harry, and dashawn, whom I like a bit, makes me love the '17 class. About to get better. This staff is trail built
Re: Tom Wilson transferringneither one could play. adios.
