Needed a shot with about 40 seconds left in our last full possession. We should have had the ball for the last shot.

RI Stang wrote:FTs hurt for sure, as did Jarrey not being close on his jumpers. But to me it was Chagrois not showing up at all that hurt the most. Jank isn't going to call him out in the press, but I would love to know his true thoughts there. KT absolutely lit into Ethan about 4 minutes in to the first half when he wasn't playing physical D AT ALL, while also giving up easy offensive boards. He got yanked after that and only played a handful of additional minutes in the first half, where he once again got cussed out by KT for lacking on D and the boards. Second half starts, and the exact same thing happened, except this time it was Forrest chewing him out. He didn't see the floor again until the last second.

I know we have been working on interior defensive intensity and rebounding in practice for weeks and the coaches frustration that it's not sinking in with Ethan was telling. Critical week of practice for him - how will he handle the adversity?

That's why I get even more heated about Agau. Chargois is a freshman that deserves to have a freshman slump, Agau is a 5th year senior.

His shot hasn't been falling either so I tend to believe that it has something to do with being sick and having some bad practices, but RI nailed it. This week for his is a huge week of practice. I think the disappearance of Whitt and McMurray is just as big as Chargois disappearance. You can't have 3 of your core 6 man rotation just play like garbage 3 straight games and expect to win many of them.

I thought Whitt played fairly well defensively and he contributed 9 boards (leading rebounder last night), so I wouldn't quite say he was "garbage". Ethan and McMurray are definitely in a terrible rut, but Whitt is at least contributing in other ways while struggling offensively (as is Foster), while those two are not right now. I think that's why the coaches were so frustrated with Ethan last night - if his shot isn't falling he becomes a liability because of what's lacking on the other end of the floor. As others have said, hopefully the illness is mostly to blame there but obviously we'll find out as we head into our toughest game of the season after an incredibly needed week of nothing but practice and hard work.

Whitt should have revamped his shot with a year off. It's inexcusable that you have a point guard that doesn't even attempt a three. Its 4/5 when he receives the ball at the three.

I meant more on the offensive end for Whitt, but yes I agree Whitt has played well all season on D and is rebounding excellently for a PG. On offense when he gives us almost nothing we struggle. We can't have him be ineffective in every aspect of his O game. When he is driving well and hitting from mid-range you can live with his lack of 3-point threat and terrible FT shooting. Pretty much everybody, but Shake is in an offensive slump. Gu isn't really in a slump, but is being schemed well.

Given the way Agau likes to try the 3 point shot, he might be a modern day version of Dewayne Floyd from the 2000-2001 era at SMU

Seems like last time Ethan was aggressive on D he got into foul trouble (Cincinnati?) I wonder if that has some effect. Would like to see Ray get more minutes to develop. Agau should be the third option - shows no contribution for a 5th year senior - I now sigh when he subs into a game.

Have to remember that Chargois had basically just climbed out of bed and not sure he was even able to practice before Cincy, so nobody should have expected him to return to form immediately. I agree that I would like to see Ray get more minutes because he is a fairly athletic big body and we need more of those. As for Agau, he had a much longer physical challenge than Ethan so let's just hope all of our bigs are at their best come March.

I'm shocked at how much slack people are cutting this team.
Anyone who has watched our last few games should be alarmed at the lifelessness. That's a reflection of the coaching and the players.
I'm not asking for Jank to be fired or anything, but it's incredibly disturbing that the same problems keep manifesting themselves.
Jank and co. have shown when they have time to execute a gameplan they can do really well (USC earlier this year for example). I'm hoping this full week gives the staff and players time to analyze, reflect, correct and improve.

Have any other players than Chargois been sick? Seriously. We are definitely not ourselves right now.

I know that Whitt and Gu were both sick leading up to the Tulane game, but were not as bad off as Ethan and thus were able to play.

Early on Whitt was quietly averaging like 14 and 6 wasn't he? That's a big piece to be ailing
