...never said it was. But since your post followed mine, I just wanted to be sure. Thanks for the reply. VTL.
Hope that AD search committee you're on is starting to get down to brass tacks. Big responsibility. Make a good choice. If ya'll don't, well...

HixsontoLeVias wrote:What??..you only support SMU when things are rosy, when we are winning, when life is grand?? Rice had MORE fans at the C-USA tourney than SMU did, though small, Rice had at least 35 people there, we had 4, there were 25 Marshall people at Pat O's after our game on Wednesday, with another 20-25 in town, according to the folks I spoke with...So. Miss had a ton of people, and guess what, they really suck, and Hattisburg is almost as far as Dallas, and believe it or not, SoMiss has a very light Memphis area alum base....Heck, Tulane had a small vocal group in town.........we like to complain, and [deleted], and moan and groan, like spoiled little kids....wonder why no one in Big D, non alum types, want to jump on our bandwagon??
Is our love for SMU ONLY tied to success, in football, in the SWC, vs. Texas (sounds like the carnival scene from The Jerk)??? Folks at the C-USA tourney were there because they love their freakin' school, not some jr. point gaurd from Toledo..they love the school, the memories, the hope for success, the hunger for an upset, wanting to be part of and rub shoulders with other alums / friends....we are basically spoiled little rich kids, with some sort of warped perception of who we are and what we are..it is sad. I enjoyed the heck out of the tourney this week..the band...the staff..the hard work by the team....to bad I had no one to high five after the Rice W....long live BHop...
You are my new hero Hixs...great post!

Someone mentioned Tulsa's past successes in basketball. Here's a big reason why.........Nolan Richardson, Tubby Smith, Bill Self, the guy who left to go to Tennessee.......Great young coaches who proved themselves there at Tulsa and moved on to better gigs. You want a model??? There it is. Find an AD who knows how to spot good, young coaching talent and accept the fact that we might lose a coach every 3 -4 years to a higher profile program. I'd vote for that right now, how about the rest of ya'll??????????

..most of you guys are like "coach whore chasers", use em up, throw em out...NEXT!! When Tubbs was hired a few years back, this board went super freakin' gaga over the hire....a popular hire, the right man, one of our own, welcome back, etc., etc...now, after a few mediocore seasons, used up, throw him out, we are now back down on the corner looking for another "trick"....it gets old. Any quasi knowledgeable bball fan would know that it takes time, to build, to recruit, to "break through"..Tubbs out coached Wilson on Wed., we got beat by the nations leading TO team on Thursday.....stop your "coach sucks whinning", support the team (who worked their butts off this week), upgrade your season tickets, instead of buying 2, buy 4, instead of 4, buy 6...it's about your school, your beloved alamater, it's not about a couple of unporductive babll season....."let the freakin' jello harden, boys..quit opening up the frig and stciking a spoon in it..." LONG LIVE Bamba and Morris!!

Oh, hell no. What fun would that be. Keep in mind, my favorite quote from a movie is William Hurt in The Big Chill when he says, "I'm just trying to keep the conversation lively..............."

Keith Van Horn tiping in a shot with .2 seconds in a chance to upset UTAH the #2 team in the country at the time.....Brandon Kurtz driving down the length of the court in 5 seconds and making an uncontested layup to beat SMU in overtime....Tulsa was ranked in the top 10 at the time and I was ready to storm the court that game. We should have won the game but a guy on their team hit a three at the buzzer to send it to OT. These kind of games sum up SMU and my life.
I miss Troy Matthews.
