yes sir, about as bad of a scenario as I could imagine. I dont care what anyone thinks of Tubbs, this is very bad for SMU. This wouldn't happen anywhere else but on Bishop Boulevard. No other school would allow this to go on like this and botch this as bad. Totally sickening.

Pete Gillen has also had some success at schools like SMU. He wasn't great at UVA though, but I don't think he is tainted.

Knowing Orsini's predilection for reclamation projects (O'Leary), I could see Nolan Richardson or Larry Eustaschy.

In my opinion, SMU would not hire either of those coaches.

He's already implied it.

I'll take that bet and raise you $10.

Gillen is reputed to be a hell of recruiter. But he has no Texas contacts to speak of and from listening to him on CSTV broadcasts the guy drinks waaaaay too much coffee.

Barnes has done okay without initial contacts.

There's no such thing as too much coffee.

I follow UVA sports as much as I follow SMU sports and when Gillen was fired from UVA, I was ecstatic. He can recruit, sure, but he can't take his super recruits and make them any better during their college careers. What you have, then, is a high school all-star team, not a college team.

Pete Gillen did a SMU game this year and that guy is a freakshow.

That was the TCU game. I met him when he coached at UVA and by chance, I attended the TCU game. Was there way before tipoff and ran into him. We had a brief conversation. Nice guy, not at all sour with how it turned out at UVA. He's fiery, yes, but a freakshow? You don't know the man.

I don't think Pete Gillen is a good hire for SMU at the current time...I'd rather see someone who has had success at smaller schools who can't recruit as well as Gillen can but can develop players much better than Gillen can.
